I was thinking about how Rafa Marquez and Israel Vasquez will have their rubber match next year and it got me thinking about alot of other trilogies and how they went. Alot of the fighters who won the first fight, lost the second fight, and the loser of the second fight lost the third. Morales Vs Barrera(These fights are disputed as to who won what), but Morales took the first and lost the next two. Morales Vs Pacman - Took the first then lost the next two. (IMO Morales was not in his prime anymore) Also Gatti-Ward, Frazier-Ali, Ali-Norton, Diego Coralles Vs Jose luis Castillo, So basically what i am saying is that most of the fighters who win the second fight take the whole trilogy, Can Rafael be different? Cant wait til the fight, also taylor-pavlick, its gonna be an opponent who will come at Taylor and will be there to fight, so it is a great mesh of styles for this fight. Mosley-Cotto, This is a great year for Boxing Fans!!!
I had actually noticed the same trend myself. Good pick up.:good Will be a great fight, especially since both were so competitive. I honestly don't know who to pick in the rubber match.
i think Vazquez takes this, i really think he has the hungrier heart among the two, skill-wise i'd go for Rafa, he's one of the most complete fighters out there bu what i question is his heart(compared to israel).
Rafael just needs to stay away from that damn left hook! I think he will and he'll break this trilogy trend. Oh and don't forget the great Holyfield Ruiz trilogy! LOL
Yeh i meant that Chico lost all his fights after their first war, lost the 2nd fight, then lost to Cassa, totally forgot bout the weight issue and just remembered chico never won again. Yeh the Cassa won and Holyfield are a couple that dont fit the bill.
The morale is: If you beat a fighter, don't face him again. Concerning Marquez and Vasquez - I surely hope they will protect themselves in the 3rd match, because both could suffer severe brain injuries, if they keep this on. Fun, but scary to watch.
