Anyone really miss the era during Tito, Vargas Oscar, Mosley etc? For guys like Tito and Vargas, their time seemed to go way too fast.
I remember going to a local bar several times during the year to catch these guys on PPV. It was like Christmas any time these guys fought.
Ortiz is the only guy that brings back such memories with his persona and fighting style.

    Those were the days though..

It was great and they all faced each other like the SRL, Duran, Hearns, Benitez days.

Okay Flex, you lost me on Ortiz. I did not read the whole post. Lets not get to high on Ortiz. He just won a belt and most still dwell on his fight with Maidana. I am one that feels that he will get school and maybe stopped late. He will then be forgotten. At least he won a belt. What has he done to make anyone feel confident of him that he can deal with a Mayweather. Besides the fight with Berto which he did get hurt numerous times, what has he done? I wish him well, but he is going against one of the best at WW.

He prob can't deal with Mayweather, if Floyd is still on top of his game. Ortiz isn't any of the guys I mentioned, but he's a fast, powerful, aggressive fighter and is exciting to watch. He's young to boot, reminds me of Vargas but much less trash talking. Vargas didn't possess a solid chin either, getting dropped in a couple of his fights outside Tito and Oscar.
Ortiz is fun to watch. Outside of Pac's fights, and when Floyd decides to fight, Ortiz is someone I try not to miss and look forward to seeing. Although, you can blink and he may be on his back.

I miss the days of going to local bars to see any televised boxing!

In Toronto UFC is everywhere in the bars, but boxing has become harder and harder to find.

Where can you go in T.O. now to see boxing?

I'm in mississauga. I heard boston pizza's show pac fights. On lakeshore there are a few dirty bars that probably show a lot of boxing fights but not sure.

Those days were the **** though. late 90s to mid 2000s. Nothing like a Trinidad/Oscar/Vargas fight to kick off your night before hitting the local clubs for girls. I was in Kingston, Ont during that time. Shoeless Joe's was awesome for showing fights back then.

Well put. Non boxing fans would get excited about those fights. They were events. Primarily because of De La Hoya's association. De La Hoya had everyone involved. I remember groups and groups of girls wall to ceiling in the bars there to watch the fights. Just alot more people were interested period. The energy was electric before during and after. Good good times.

Put it this way, last boxing match I saw in a bar where i didn't have to pay cover was DLH/Mayweather. But outside of that, I miss those guys because they did fight each other, was like a soap opera. But hell, I miss 2007-08 with Margarito/Williams/Cotto/Quintana/Mosley. That was a pretty awesome era too. Total annihilation to the last man.

Gimme a pound of tape to wrap any boxer's handwraps with and you got Trinidad. Nothing to see here totally legal.

Yea, i watched it in a bar too with friends and some stupid girl. At the time I liked Vargas and the ***** kept laughing each time he got knocked down. I was so pissed but had a brief bit of cheer when he turned the tables in the 6th( I think that was the round).
