Considering that Canelo was only 19 when he fought at Welterweight, had zero world level experience and was not in his prime, I would have to say the 4 division champion, Olympic gold medalist fighting in his best weight in his prime would beat the snot out of Canelo.

The Canelo that fought Jacobs and Kovalev would be the favorite against any version of DLH.

IsaL good job defending the impossible case of Canelo, an experienced horizontally scaled up Canelo would definitely have an advantage vs any version of De La Hoya if he decide to rice-up to 168/175!

Unless De La Hoya is allowed to benefit from the modern advances in super-foods, then we can see De La Hoya at 175 snapping punches just like he did at 130. With De La Hoya accumulated knowledge, height, reach advantage Ginger will have no chance.

Same with Thomas Hearns, SRR, SRL & Trinidad (all Welters who had reach/height advantage over Canelo), with a good diet of premium Mexican meat they will be able to retain their endurance, stamina & speed at 175...

Tito did not carry his left hook power over 154 lbs., so Canelo UD.
But at 154-150 Tito via late TKO

Comparing Vargas to Canelo is laughable, That that Vargas was young green and not very smart, add up the nasty low blows Tito landed and Canelo chin is 3 times better than Vargas.

At 154 the 5'10" Fernando Vargas that beat Ike Quartey & Winky Wright was smart enough to beat 154lbs 5'7" Canelo (moving up from Welter), so size/reach advantage goes to Fernando Vargas

Felix Trinidad was undefeated at Welterweight, he will simply take Canelo WBC Welterweigth/Ring titles.

Canelo had better matchmaking than any of the ATGs if you want to go that route, De La Hoya is committed to follow through, great manager...not so a promoter, the moment the matchmaking protection is lifted, Gingerberg is immediately sacked
    • Canelo is South Vietnam
    • Mayweather is South Korea

At 160 honestly looking back, we don't have a lot to gauge how good Tito was. He beat Joppy (a very, very good win), and then got blown out by Bernard. Everything after that Roy, Winky, Mayorga was really a post prime Tito. The loss to Bernard is a wash as I don't see Canelo beating Bernard either. I do think that Canelo would beat Joppy but not as destructively as Tito did. Joppy's chin was excellent and the fact that Tito just ran him over so this shows that Tito did carry enormous power at the weight. Joppy was never stopped again at "that weight" even against Jermain and Bernard, and his career continued on years after that before he was stopped again as a post prime above weight class statistic. Another thing people forget is that Tito was taller, had a longer reach, was perfectly willing to go to war, had great stamina, far more power and was could fight a sustained war. I think Tito wins a decision or loses an extremely controversial one. No way does Canelo stop him or make Tito fight on the backfoot consistently. That would just not happen. Canelo isn't consistent or active enough to force that. And Tito had a lot of success against very good "boxers" so he was not out of his element against guys that knew how to move, box, counter etc...

He'd been out for over 2.5 years when he fought Roy and he had no right being up at SMW or rather technically up at LHW because both weighed over the SMW limit.

For me it goes like this

At 154, Tito is able to win rounds that Canelo takes off and punishes the body, Canelo at 154 was a stalker who was traded, Tito was too, this would be a great fight and I think the experience and workrate of Tito takes a narrow decision, Canelo is physically more imposing and would likely force Tito back should he have needed, although Tito could box when he needed to, I don't think he'd need to here.

    Tito SD12

Now at 160, I think Canelo is all wrong for him. The game-plan Canelo tried against GGG in the first would be all he needed to beat Tito imo, especially with the added fact that Canelo was much more comfortable at 160, more experienced, better stamina and Tito was definitely starting to show his limitations there. Hopkins, Del a Hoya and Winky showed that a slick boxer gives Tito headaches, Canelo would too.

I have canelo winning at 160 but ill disagree with those saying titos power at 160 wasnt there.

He stopped william joppy who wasnt stopped before.

Also trinidad was 165 fight night while joppy was 170

Ggg mostly jabbed canelo most times was only able to land heavy hits that weren't jabs at times not clean enough tho ggg lacked the speed to hit canelo clean.

Trinidad had power at 160. And he has the speed to catch

Hopkins had feet to get away for all 12 avoid the big punch.

Canelo counters tito but risk getting caught

Forwards or backwards. Tito has one advantage ggg didn't.

    Speed .

    The speed to catch canelo

I stick with canelo KO. However tito could catch him.

Tend to think Tito at 154, that was the best version of Tito, he was a beast at that weight and Canelo a bit younger and struggling to make weight. Tito was never as effective up at 160 though and I think the 160 Canelo is too strong and experienced enough to adapt to Tito's slightly one-dimensional style.

The mythical matchup has to be at 154lbs.

Trinidad (from the Vargas fight) vs. Canelo (from the Liam Smith fight)

Trinidad is far too disadvantaged at 160lbs, he doesnt have a middleweight frame and thats why he never looked good outside the Joppy fight.

Canelo was a fully developed fighter in the Liam Smith bout. All his skills and smarts are fully formed by this point. He was also faster than he was vs GGG at MW.

Trinidad was 165lbs in the ring against Vargas. Canelo never gave an unofficial weight vs Smith but have to imagine he was 172-174lbs. Tito was taller and longer with better power and stamina. Canelo was quicker and slicker.

Great, great fight. Would be a classic. Could Canelo hold the center of the ring against a hard charging Tito for 12rds? If he's forced on the back foot Tito will steam roll him.

The Canelo that only abused testosterone, dianabol, and clenbuterol(Canelo at 154) gets knocked out late or loses a UD while getting dropped multiple times.

The Canelo that slams trenbolone, test, and deca into his veins all day every day like a junkie(Canelo 160 and above) probably stops Tito but if Tito outpoints him Canelo would win by UD like 12-0.

Trinidad had the physical edge in almost every category except weight. Even at 160, Trinidad would have had the physical advantage. But Canelo had built up his skill level by the time he fought at 160 so it's the only weight class where we can have as even a match as possible. Even when Trinidad lost to Bernard, it wasn't a blowout.
