I'll go with Tito at 147 he had great power, great reach and speed, not disrespect to my man Cotto but Tito at 147 was an awsome fighter too.
Theres no doubt in my mind that Trinidad beats Cotto head to head.... i like cotto more and prefer cottos style... but he gets hit too much and relies too much on being in close to his opponent to beat a Prime Trinidad.
Trinidad wasn't chinny he just had mediocre footwork and very poor balance because of it. He leads stepping with his back foot forward ALL THE TIME so he's always off balance and susceptible to knock downs. Most of the time he gets knocked down, he isn't really hurt, and he gets back up and puts hurt on his opponent.
Hmmm I don't know. If i had to bet my life on it I'd pick Trinidad at 147 but who knows if Trinidad would be able to take Cottos left hooks to the body and pressure close in. I really don't remember Trinidad fighting anyone that really went to the body as much as Cotto and with as much power.
Glad to see someone here analyzing it properly. Cotto is FAR more well rounded then Tito. And whilst Tito would surely win this fight if Cotto decided to stay in the pocket, I have no doubt what so ever that Cotto WOULD NOT do this. If Cotto were to use his superior boxing ability, and rattle Tito with combination punching and good movement, I think he would very well stand a chance of winning. As you said though, we haven't seen enough of Cotto to know whether or not he could withstand a puncher like Tito yet. Something to think about though, is that every time Cotto has been hurt by an orthadox fighter, it has been off a right hand, particularly a looping one that goes over his gloves. Tito's right hand is predominantly a textbook straight right, and his money punch is the left hook. WHilst this does not mean that Tito would not land on COtto, I think he would have a harder time landing a clean power punch then most people would think. From what we have seen from Cotto so far, and if i had to make a bet it would be Tito by KO, but I would be far from confident, and would not be suprised to see a masterful boxing display from Cotto.
You have just proved your ignorance. Watch him fight against Cezar Bazan, Abduelleav, Mosley and then tell me he can't box. You laughed about the Tito comment, but I would love to see you provide me with a scenario where you would have Tito counter punching and outboxing Shane Mosley, beating him many times at range.
Exactly. Unfortunately these two minute fans watch one fight and think that they know a particular fighter inside out.
