I never said you were biased towards puerto ricans... I said you were biased in general, as you are blindly favouring one fighter and not arguing objectively. You have continuially tried to belittle me by saying "little homie", insuinuating that you are older and wiser. Its a childish trick and it really just makes you look like a try hard wigger. I never said Cotto could beat Tito, so no one has dis agreed with me. I clearly stated that he is a superior boxer then Trinidad, and that potentially he could use this to beat him. Plenty of posters have agreed with me in this regard. Go back and read the thread. At this time i said he is to unproven against punchers of this nature to do so, however if he could put a performance like this against a similar fighter then I would be very confident in him doing the same to Trinidad. Oscar De La Hoya is not recognised for his counter punching ability, however he found great success against Trinidad this way. You are relying on fabricating and changing my posts to try and establish points. All it does is emphasis the fallacious nature of your posts, for all to see. From now on, at least attempt to comment on things I have actually said, not points you have made up.
Tito by KO. Too much range and too much power for Cotto. Cotto's chin is suspect. Tito will dent it - just ask Fernando Vargas.
Trinidad was a patient stalker. He never closed the distance quickly. He would edge his way into range, then get off with his hooks and crosses. Technically sound delivery, accurate, and mostly everything he threw was with bad intentions. But he needs to get set when getting off with punches. If you watch the late rounds of the Jones fight, you'll notice when pushed back he was ineffective. Quite simply, he doesn't fight well on the backfoot. When Jones was advancing while putting on serious pressure Trinidad went into a shell. He's never been fluent with his punches, and he only punches while coming forward or in a stationary position.
Exactly what I have been trying to point out. And the reason that he struggled against guys that either made him use a lot of movement- Oscar and Hop, or against guys that backed him up- Winky and Roy to a degree.
De La Hoya set the blueprint for Hopkins, then Wright gave us a whole knew tactical approach with the way he went about his business in shutting out Trinidad. Wright probably dominated Trinidad more than Hopkins, but with less variety.
Tito at 147 would knock him out in fourth round. No doubt about it. Cotto can be hit. He comes in. He is open to a left hook most the time. Tito would clobber him.
wow, seems that the most of you thinks that Trinidad will have won , funny that right here in Puerto Rico when i asked the same question people are about 50/50 in picking any one to win. but i also thinks Trinidad would have won, No disrespect to Cotto he's one of my favorites boxers right now, and it will be interesting to see if one day he can reach the Trinidad level , as far as acomplishment and championships
Cotto can't outbox trinidad from the outside. Cotto is like 4 inches shorter than Trinidad and his arms are like 5 inches shorter.
Cotto certainly has the skills to outbox Trinidad. But with a couple of flush left hooks on Cotto's chin and he is out. Trinidad by KO.
But so what if hes not this great boxer... hes a great fighter, thats all that matters... and in this fight, cotto in no way has the speed of hand nor foot to box trinidad for 12 rounds and win the fight *though i do realise you pick tito to win
Yes but what people seem not to realise about the whole styles make fights and the blueprints to beat so and so.. is that these fighters had the ABILITY to pull OFF that blueprint, and they had the ABILITY to make those styles WORK in those matchups. You could have campas try to fight like winky all he wants, there is no way he wins... same goes for every other non elite fighter. Its the fact that winky IS elite that he could pull that off... If oscar didnt have the fast combos and fast feet that he did, the 'blueprint' that people look at would have never come to be because it was as much hoyas talent and skill that pulled it off as much as it was his gameplan. They go hand in hand..
