Trinidad by late rounds stoppage. Margo wont have any size or strength advantages over Trinidad. Plus Tito is the better boxer and waaaaaay harder puncher.
<insert mass Trinidad blowjobs comment> Fact is once upon a time the whole 90s class was not superhuman. They were simply the best of their era. Just like today's welters. Margarito would show more respect for Trinidad than he did Cotto. He would keep his guard high and he would take that next step back to avoid the left hook. Just like he did against Cintron. Trinidad would land the right but Margarito would eat that like pez. Trinidad was not hard to find and Margarito would keep it nice and competitive throughout. This is not Campas. Margarito is much more durable and bigger and has the stamina to go all 12. Where Cotto lacked in power, he more than made up in mobility and dexterity. He had the ability to make Margarito reach to open up headshots. Trinidad liked to stand and trade by using the front of his foot. His back foot was always arched like a runner. This would ensure Trinidad would not be stepping back or giving angles to Margarito. He'd be there to be hit. While Trinidad has more power, the chin disparity cancels out that advantage. This would be a real fight for either guy. I've picked Trinidad before and in a way I could see where his grit and sharp punching could win. But on the same token I could see Margarito giving Tito more than he can handle by moving in and out and blocking that left hook, all while banging Tito's body and head with uppercuts.
I see it one of two ways. Tito by UD or Margarito by late round stoppage. Titos chin was weak while Margos is rock solid. People tend to forget Cotto stopped a guy in Gomez that used to fight Super Middles and was never stopped. Cotto rearranged his face and KD with a jab! Margo ate all of his shots and still smiled so i dont think Tito would just dispose of Margo with ease. Seriously Tito could hit but Margo can really take a hit.
Yea it's not just that. Tito could sure bang but Margarito is like a buzz saw. Tito's one big right hand or left hook is not going to makeup for the 3 or 4 uppercuts and body shots coming his way. Tito was tough and would hang with it but he'd get worn out if he didn't adapt. But damn if he could not dissuade Margarito I'm willing to say he'd get beaten badly.
Exactly. I love Tito but people really overrate him around here. He was a great fighter but people are making it seem like just because he had power he could beat anyone. Look at Cintron. That guy can bang and Margo took at one point 3 right hands in a row from him. Those were also perfect shots and he just kept walking throwing more. What would Tito do when he saw that his power was not gonna discourage Margarito and you know If Margo lands a few uppercuts in a row Tito could definately go down. I thikn tito has the skills to outbox Margarito but not stop him. If he trades that would be a huge mistake.
