The other thread got me thinking, so post your predictions for these matchups. Trinidad vs Clottey Trinidad vs Cotto Trinidad vs Williams Trinidad vs Margarito Trinidad vs Quintana Trinidad vs Berto
Trinidad Ud Clottey Trinidad Ko Cotto Trinidad Ud Margarito Trinidad Ko Quintana Trinidad Ko Berto Trinidad Draw Williams--good Fight
1. Trinidad SD. Clotteys defense is tough and I don't think he could knock him out. 2. Trinidad 11th rd TKO. Cottos defense is not the greatest and tito has too much power for him. 3. Trinidad by 12th rd TKO. Paul Williams can talk all he wants but margo had him in a lot of trouble when he turned it up and again tito is a harder hitter than margo. 4. This one there will be no TKO either. Margos chin is super human and also I think when margo gets inside to trade he would hit tito and more than likely hurt him. However a controversial SD for tito. 5. No challenge here. Quintana would get hit and probably go down around the first 5 rounds. 6. Berto is too young right now. Can you say tito-vargas? It would end in the same fashion and end his career.
How? You saw what Winky's high guard defense did to Tito's offense. Now Clottey is not on Winky's level, which is why he would lose. However, his chin along with his ability to limit Tito's offense would allow him to go 12. I'd say he would probably win 3 or 4 rounds.
Trinidad UD Clottely Cotto UD Trinidad Williams UD Trinidad Trinidad vs Margarito - too close to call Trinidad KO Quintana Trinidad UD Berto
His lack of workrate in comparison to someone like Winky or Quartey is the problem. Not to mention his jab is a step below a guy like Quartey, as well as his power. His high guard is really all he has going for him in terms of staying on his feet. Either way, with his low workrate he'll allow Tito to get in on him and work him from head to toe, landing a few clean shots in the process, but taking a lot as well, and I doubt he's taking too many to be honest. The fact that he has a high guard and covers up doesn't make him anywhere near un-hittable. I don't think he wins 3-4 rounds because I don't think the fight lasts the distance period.
Trinidad UD Clottey. A one-sided decision, but Clottey's defense and chin keep him in until the final bell. It's one-sided because virtually all he will be doing is trying to block punches, not be offensive himself. Trinidad stops Cotto within 7 at most. Trinidad either Ud or stops Williams late. Williams was hurt at times by Margo and Quintana, Trinidad will hurt him a lot more. But he could possibly survive to the distance, maybe he drops Trinidad early on a flash KD. Trinidad stops Margo inside of 10. Easy to hit, facing one of the top 3 punchers in the history of welterweight division. That's a bad combination, and it doesn't matter how good Margo's chin is. Trinidad stops Quintana within 6, whenever he lands flush Carlos will be badly hurt, and Tito finishes him. Trinidad stops Berto within 6 as well. Pretty much the same thing as Quintana, once he's hit flush, the end isn't far off. Against this opposition, Trinidad goes 6-0 with at least 4 knockouts IMO.
Cotto? COTTO? Are you serious? Name ONE person Tito ever had wobbled in his career that he let off the hook? There aren't any, because Tito was a murderous finisher. Look, Cotto is my boy, but there is absolutely no chance in hell he wouldn't be wobbled in a fight with Tito. And once he was, it'd be lights out.
