Andy Lee is who they have for him next and the popular excuse coming from GGG's blind fan base is that everyone in sport is scared of this guy.... based on how well he's been beating these tomato cans.... ESPN mixed with some smoke and mirrors will have you think anyone is great....wait until someone punches back, or ducks away from his bull****...
If the guy doesnt crank up the competition this year the hater wagon will get bigger... and rightfully so.
His opposition is not full of Tomato Cans. Tomato Cans RELATIVE TO THE HYPE GGG GIVES AND GETS, yes. But not Tomato Cans on their own.
One could argue that his best opponent so far has been the smaller, shopworn and badly faded junior middleweight Kassim Ouma. Ouma definitely had the most success out of any of Golovkin's opponent since then. He was actually winning the fight when he got KO'd. It's a shame he wasn't a few years younger when he fought Golovkin. He would have beat him on points.
Who should Golovkin fight? If you can give names at MW first cos realisticaly thats where he is...then the guys at SMW he should fight given his (as you point out) relatively lowly resume. Really easy - (even GGG fans such as myself are becoming frustrated) - just say the names (within realism) and hell, I'll even lobby them for you.
Geale ducked him, Kirkland flat out refused to fight him, so that left Lee...........however, the winner of Martinez/Cotto vs Golovkin is possible. HBO is supposed to put up some real money for a good fight. Golovkin Vs. Martinez.............Quillin refuses to fight him, Golovkin can't take a gun and force them to fight him.
Matthew Macklin prior to the GGG fight was a fighter who took the middleweight "champ" to task, and was supposed to be the legit full fledged middleweight that would test Golovkin. Now that that didn't work out for the haters, they develope amnesia and say GGG is only fighting bums while passing on the open challenges from the very best at 160 :-( All I can say, is if you don't like GGG you don't like boxing.
Revisionist history at it's finest. The fight with Ouma was basically even after 6 but rounds 7-9 were withering rounds in Golovkin's favor before getting the stoppage in 10. Golovkin also had visa isuues and had to live in airports for a couple days before the fight, arriving just in time for the weigh-in. Surely none of this really matters to his detractors. They are seeing what they want to see and will just change the narrative to fit their agenda.
