Triple GGG = biggest hype job since Calzaghie. Hopkins would school him.

Calzaghe was never a hype job. But I do side with you that GG is untested, overrated, and all hype.

I've been here on and off since 2004 and have been permabanned 2 or 3 times so I had to get new logins and start from scratch. Can't even remember what my last one was. So If that's an alt I guess I've had about 3 of them.

    lets see, calzaghe and ggg.

to be fair, ggg took till 33 to face a genuine titlist, calzaghe took till 34.

ggg has owned a bigger title than joes 90s wbo one, but in migitation the wbo's stature grew towards the end of joes reign. but at age 33 (like ggg) joe was still a minnow. ggg had in addition, a minor title plus his major one - joe had only one, minor (that became major).

i'd say ggg is marginally ahead of calzaghe at the same age.

calzaghe never got hype until wassen realised he could cash in on his fighter vs lacy. until then he was unknown, getting 1 or 2 lines in newspapers at best even when on the shot, title-less Tyson undercard. in contrast, guys like Frampton, khan, brook get a whole page in newspapers.

now, Hopkins at 50 is not going to school anyone half decent.

its about gass. he cant last 12 rounds, in fact if you push him then that's been apparent for the last 7 or 8 years, so even someone who lacks fundamentals like calzaghe, can outgass Hopkins.

He's doing what he's supposed to against average opposition, if he gets blown out by an elite fighter, he'd be a somewhat hypejob, if he gets beaten in a competitive fight it won't mean he's a hypejob.

    Why do you say that.
He fights anybody they put in front of him.
He wins and gives everyone what they want.
    He is humble and respectfull.
    Whats your problem???

    This is all true.

Part of the problem may be people just not believeing he can beat Ward and that its some kind of insult to be asking Cotto to fight GGG even though Miguel is the linear middleweight champ.

Losing to Ward at super middleweight does not prove he is a hypejob.

Losing to Canelo or Cotto, even at Cottocaneloweight 155lbs might bring on that opinion though.

It depends how he gets beaten, if he gets beaten, though ofc just being beat would mean you're a hypejob around here.

And wasn't Hopkins supposed to school Kovalev? Hopkins is a monster and halfway to 100 there's no shame in being shut out by a prime beast like Krusher but I don't see him having much joy against GGG either.
