Trivia: Fight where champ debuts against another future champ?

Well if you count IBO then he was.

Well boxers of the level of Wlad Klitschko and Gennady Golovkin seemed happy posing with their IBO belts along with other sanctioning body belts, so i guess they thought the belt counted, but hey what do these boxers know, what have they ever done in our sport?

i never said IBO did not suck, i merely pointed out Wlad and Gennady happily wore the IBO belts.
There should of course only be one World Champion, however there isn't so it a case of choose 3 letters of the alphabet stick them on a belt and off you go.

 

When we're talking about world champions/title fights, it's more or less agreed (at least amongst fans on sites like this), that we only count "The Big Four" (WBA, WBC, WBO, IBF).

For example, if someone asks, who fought or beat the most world champions, or who had the most title fights... then those 4 organizations are the ones we count. We don't even have to specify this, as we all know, this is being implied.

Just like when a question about HOFers comes up - even without stating it, we all know, that we're talking about members of the IBHOF (and not the WBHOF).

 

I of course am totally aware of the points you make and yes if discussing champions i too refer to the WBC etc champs.

However that still does not take into account why the likes of Golovkin and Wlad happily pose with the IBOs belt along with the other belts they have won, so if i was to be devils advocate which i am not i might add, you are 'implying' keyboard warriors (online fans) know better than the likes of GG and Wlad.

Anyway there should be no debate as there should surely only be one World Champion, before 1963 there was only one, which then became 2 and so it has grown, last time i checked there was only one world, a new one has not developed each time a new world title sanctioning body appeared.
