    @Bukkake

I missed an easy save. Jack Burke and Mitchell fought Cleary which skips Dempsey and LaBlance. There's a few others in the same number of steps too. Garcia covers Middleweight champion anyway making it

    Jack Burke
    Mike Cleary
    Young Mitchell
    Torpedo Billy Murphy (Featherweight)
    George Dixon (Bantamweight)
    Johnny Hughes
    Jimmy Wilde (Flyweight)
    Pancho Villa
    Jimmy McLarnin (Welterweight)
    Barney Ross (Lightweight)
    Ceferino Garcia (Middleweight)
    Lloyd Marshall
Archie Moore (Light Heavyweight) Muhammad Ali
    Larry Holmes
    Oliver McCall
    Francisco Pianta
    Tyson Fury

Boxrec lists Barney Donovan as fighting both Jack Burke and Torpedo Billy Murphy. But I'd want to check the Burke fight.

Burke and Donovan fought an exhibition when Burke first arrived in Australia so I don't know if you want to include it...

Yeah, I suspected that, but wasn't able to check the reports.

    I wouldn't count exhibitions.

I know, right? Read: Dummies need not apply.

What are we supposed to do in the meantime - rock back and forth while twiddling our thumbs? We need something to do, be occupied, otherwise we’re likely to cause trouble elsewhere. (Kidding at every level @Bukkake)

I love @Bukkake ’s trivia questions. I saw the title for this one, rubbed my hands together and then read the requirements and thought “Oh cr*p, I’ll sit this one out.”

Keep ‘em coming man. Even if we don’t know the answers then we learn.

Or maybe create a separate thread with remedial boxing questions so we can have a decent shot at it - suffice to say, knowledgeable posters need NOT apply - the thread would be just for us because we are “special” and need to be included also. Haha.

This is longer, but I think this sort of route could be the shortest.

You could actually build a computer program running on an algorithm to calculate the shortest connection between any two fighters (and add in whatever additional criteria you want). You would need to develop a huge database from BoxRec of basically every fight in history and then run the algorithm off that data. I definitely don’t have the skills to do it but I’m sure someone could.
