What fighter made the front page of a major newspaper? It shows him knocking out his opponent in the first round, as the (5 to 1) underdog. Take a guess who it was? Hint, he was trained by a fighter that beat two champions Not the Sports page. The front page.
Really! Usually, President's , Mayor's, Politician's even Gangster's like Al Capone made the front page. Name me one fighter that made the front page. I'll make it even easier for you. The Chicago Tribune and or The New York Times. If you know of one, give the date and paper. Make a guess if you don't know, you might just get it right.
The first name that comes to mind is Al (Bummy) Davis, who in 1944 flattened Bob Montgomery at MSG in the opening round. But I see (BoxRec) that he was only a 4-1 underdog - so probably not the guy you have in mind. Can't think of anyone else, off the top of my head.
The first fight that came to my mind was Tommy Morrison vs. Michael Bentt. Bentt was trained by Eddie Gregory (Mustafa Muhammad). Eddie beat Marvin Johnson and Matt Franklin (Saad Muhammad). Bentt had to be at least a 5-1 underdog when he stopped Morrison in one. It was likely on the front page of the Kansas City Star or a paper in Oklahoma, since the fight was held in Tulsa, Oklahoma. But I didn't check.

Great find of Tunney, but it is not the one. Your other is sports front page. The one i refer to is fighter with opponent stretched out on the canvas, winning in the 1st round. Thanks. I'll give you another hint, a blond haired white boy, stopped the career of an up and comer, who was a big favorite. The sportswriters came into their waiting room, and bypassed the kid sitting on a chair, and circled around taking pictures of the other boy, who was considered another Sugar Ray Robinson. I'll post the fighter ( with website) in next couple of days.
