If you’ve ever been in southern Mississippi in the summer heat, it’s unimaginable that Sullivan and Kilrain could toil in that heat and humidity for that long. They don’t make ‘em like they used to.
Henry Hascup is probably the most knowledgeable boxing historian alive. It's such a shame he no longer posts here, although I understand why.
He's a good guy and very active on the ex boxers circuit I understand. You're right he knows his stuff!
Most knowledgeable in trivia, yes. He doesn’t really veer away from that too much. Not that I know of, anyway.
That’s what I’m talking about. He’s great for that kinda stuff. I like basketball. Love examining the players and games. Had a friend who loved it, too. Couldn’t have a worthwhile conversation with him about player strengths, weaknesses, arcs of careers, etc. But he could tell me every single player’s jersey number, no matter how obscure. I don’t even know most of my favorite players’ numbers.
Aside from “champion”, I don’t know what any fighter’s ranking was at any time in history. I don’t care how they’re ranked by other people. I care how I see them.
Then there's little point continuing this. 1) because all I was doing was crediting a former poster and their knowledge. 2) of you aren't interested in rankings, we see the sport too differently to find any kind of middle ground.
