Says who? There was a poll on this a while back and it looked spot on, on average. Only in your idiotic opinion. He's done great at this stage in his career. Even though you're very wrong, they are still far far superior to Mandys last 8 fights. Sure, Geale wrecked them. It happens. Even though Mandy won on the dodgy judges cards (on the night), Geale won that fight in my mind. (And according to all 6 judges who eventually judged the fight, Geale actually did win on points). However, even disregarding semantics, let's analyse this. You claim Mandy is the greatest thing sliced bread, and Geale has apparently done nothing. The fight was a fast paced, on edge, very close and competitive bout, which could have gone either way. Don't you think you're ratting out your own man by claiming Geale is a hack, particularly when he would give mandy a right old shlacking today. Amongst other things, but yeh, so? What's your point? How did he get shown up technically? He won convincingly, and in Germany. Maybe, maybe not. There's that workrate thing again. I don't understand, is having a high workrate a problem in your world? How exactly did he not get through SS defence? How did he win the fight then?
He won the fight on sheer numbers thrown, not many won, to be honest I thought he only just won/draw. He did not land, and sylvester was powerful behind his jab, just didnt let his hands go. Sox, u say how was my comment not ratting out mundine, you clearly have not read my comments. I do not think Geale is bad, I like Geale, what shits me and what I am pointing out is some get a free ride (geale) where as mundine gets over the top hate. You can spring off **** about mundine ducking whoever, but thats fantasy, he is a fighter and would fight anyone. (and geale as much ducked martinez and it looks like soliman). Legacy wise if they both retired today, mundine is greater, again may not always be the case, we will see what team geale go on to achieve.. I think some just need to relax the hate, its a new year fella's, dont waste it hating aussie boxers, if you don't like choc, no worries, but see if you can relax a little youl live longer, personally I will be watching every aussie fighter I can, and cheering them home for victories
Daniel Geale took on the 34, 3 and 1 Sebastian Sylvester in Sylvester's own backyard, Germany. No easy assignment. Particularly when only a conclusive win was going to get him a win on 2 of the judges cards. Why any Australian would try to devalue Geale's achievement in winning that IBF title in Germany is just bewildering.
Not that it is altogether true, I ask again, what's the problem with this? Calzaghe was a volume puncher, and it worked well for him. Fair enough, I thought SS jab was pretty good too, and Geale did get hit more than I would have liked. However, IMO he still dominated the fight with his volume and angles. He pressured SS and took him out of his comfort zone, which is why SS didn't let his hands go. I don't remember exactly how I scored the fight, but I had Geale in front by at least 5 rounds. I feared the judges may see it differently, and one did have it completely off. To say Geale didn't look very skilled is just showing you for an idiot. If you don't like our nuthgging, tough, but you won't make any friends by bullshitting. Where is Geale getting a free ride? He's doing the hard yards, and will have a crack at making it to the very top. He's going extremely well so far. Why the **** would you want to rat him out for any reason? Mandy on the other hand is still doing jack ****, and has done so for over 2 1/2 years. Prior to that he didn't do anything of note since bashing Green. Yet Mandy has constantly claimed he is going to concur the world. What else do you think we should say? He brings it on himself. We'll just have to agree to disagree on that one. I don't believe so, Geales win over SS in Germany puts him above Mandy IMO. Good for you, but I'll like and dislike whoever I want. And it'll be for genuine reasons, I won't dislike someone just because someone else likes them. And I won't just like someone because they're Australian. You got that straight. :good
Sox, I know you love Geale, fair enough, I like Choc, I also like Geale. I won't try to change your opinion, your entitled to yours, and though we differ, you alteast give reasons for your opinions and I respect that! IMO Choc has ****ed management, the man himself was a highly skilled contender, who through a mix of poor managment, silly comments and in his prime being high risk, no name missed out on alot of opportunities. I think though, he has earned a level of respect, taking on undefeated ottke in his 11th fight with **** all amatuers, (infact most of his early fights where good), soliman domination, echols, even his loss to Kessler, who I think is an absolute champ. I think he has show he does have the stones! Last few years have not been the best, but I dont think you can put it all on choc, though its easy for the haters to do so,, And, i think he still has a chance to go out with a few good wins, and another title, Ill be cheering him on, just like ill be cheering on Dib, Kats, Geale, Vic (even if mma) tomlinson, (zappa if he goes again) soliman etc etc, I hope its a big year for all
:good I don't think too many would argue with that. Agreed. Who is Joe public supposed to put it on? I'm more into boxing than Joe public, but I won't pretend to know the ins and outs of it all. I mostly see stuff on news sites or posted here, and lots of that news is Mandy belching out garbage about world domination. A little is generally accepted, particularly when it's backed up. But I mean really, how long will he keep this going? It has literally been several years now. You mentioned Kessler, who I also think is a great boxer and seems to be a decent bloke. Mandy had massive balls to fight him, for sure. But **** me that was 6 1/2 years ago. Since then he fought Green and Geale. He clobbered Green and went tooth and nail with Geale and then dismissed an IBO ordered rematch. Again, this last good fight was 2 1/2 years ago. Geez, the last few years haven't just been the best, they've been totally and utterly ****ed. My apologies if I can't bring myself to support him. Well, I don't think he will get anything big done again, but that just my opinion. Even if he did get a big fight, he'll lose now because the silly ******* has left it all too late.
lol...well done...Echols was a domestic journey man at best. After he lost to The Pioneer he went on to to have 18 fights all in America and lost 11, drawn 3 and WON 3.....WOW!!!!
this is total bullsh1t and you dont even know it. Mundine not fighting Geale is just like Geale not fighing Soliman. Mundine is still the draw whether or not I or you like it. Yes Geale would be favorite in rematch 2012 even though Choc beat him last time, but was 4 years ago Mundine has slipped. There is no way known that Mundine would think he would lose to Geale - thats just being a fighter. Go get punched in the head in a boxing ring and you tell me any decent boxer is scared of anyone or thinks they get beat. Its just not how their minds work. Problem for Mundine was he kept fighting undermatched opposition and then his form could not keep up with his own perception.
For me , Eric Lucas. Big win. Lucas a very worthy opponent with a well credentialed resume. It was a massive upset in front of a very parochial crowd.
at the time Mundine fought him he was no3 ranked by The Ring after Calzaghe and Ottke. He was suppose to KO Mundine inside of 2 rounds. If he was a journeyman then so is Karziman and Sylvester when Geale fought them.
Echols had fought domestically his entire career against nobodies..with exception to losing twice to Hopkins. When this fight was made many thought it to be a joke at the time because of Echols record and that it was for a made up pretend title.
