Issue is he didn't think it was a 50/50. When he does he will have the involuntary adrenaline dump and really struggle for gas. If Wasserman are serious about him he needs to go through a serious course with an elite sports psychologist to avoid that involuntary response. He has shown he has the tools physically. Like David Price it's all mental gassing and adrenaline dump.

 

Apparently he has now, regarding the psychologist side of things…

 

He’s currently working with a mental coach.

 

From interviews with Price it wasn't pushed on him until around the Allen fight and he boxed a masterclass that one. The Chisora fight was with carrying 2 injuries on 3 weeks notice to be fair.

Needs to avoid Metcalf. Both on different paths. That's a lonsdale belt worthy fight if Kelly chooses that route.

 

Hopefully he continues. The involuntary adrenaline dump is a killer for him and he needs to spend all he can on it until he can be conditioned out of it.

 

Yeah he utterly showed Allen up there…

 

One last thought. All credit to Troy. He dared to dream and carried the British title with dignity. Coming up from small halls is very romantic and hopefully he can come again as he demonstrated he was very game.

Nisse said we can expect 6 cards next year. If Channel 5 can boost the funding we could potentially move to European level title fights which would be a treat free to air.

Nice to see that Kelly is developing as a boxer.

Time will tell how far the talent goes, but Kelly is on the right track.

 

Kelly deserved the win but Troy was really disappointing. He was too one dimensional, chasing Kelly around the ring like a puppy. No guile or instinct to try something different. An easy fight for Kelly.

 

Good fights on nights like this on free to air TV are what is required to grow the sport.

Thought the commentary and analysis was much better than the little known product named DAZN UK.

 

Dazn could be great but I get the feeling it's too soon for it. For the betterment of the sport having it available free to air for well matched fights will be great for the sport.
