These fighters are indeed cut from a rare cloth. We have The Tijuana Tornado who had handed many beatings and the day he met arguably the best fighter of the era he showed that not only can he hand you a beating he can take one and keep coming forward. ( I dislike they many try to down play his toughness by calling him a punching bag) Michael Katsidis another warrior true modern day gladiator, keeps coming forward and never is in a borring fight. Ricky Hatton, the times he's lost he's been completely ktfo and both times he went out guns blazing. Gatti and Ward...............no explanation needed These fighters are cut from a rare cloth what other fighters fall under this category?
Danny Williams See the Vitali fight and this one below [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QY1jzjTjIhY[/ame]
Cotto is one of my fav fighters, and he has shown plenty of heart throughout his career, but when talking the upper echelons of heart catagory, I dont think his name should be alongside the likes of Vargas, Gatti, Frazier, ect.... just imo. And Im a huge Cotto fan.
I was just thinking (after the dispicable display by David Haye) how much courage Danny Williams always showed, even when overmatched. Great call on DW. Another guy that always comes to mind, although not very talented, was Troy Dorsey. He fought absolutely everyone and never backed up. His battles with Jorge Paez were stunning, and I think he won both of them.
I agree, I like how the quits on Duran and Morales don't really tarnish their legacy because the had already established themselves as greats, but what about Vic, do you think he can sink that quit against Maidana and redeem himself completely? I belive he is already on his way to doing that. Also Chavez sr.
Nigel Benn Marvin Hagler Carmen Basilio Evander Holyfield is my all time favourite ring warrior - not for what he is now but for what he was for so many years .
