Jakrawut Majungoen vs. Lerdchai Chaiyawed, 10 rounds @ super flyweight

 

Round 1

Majungoen is blocking stiff jabs from the challenger and swatting at him with light hooks, meant to discourage more than score or hurt. Majungoen just settling into things, getting his own jab on rails gradually as he warms up and gets the blood flowing. Chaiyawed's early nerve fades a little as he finds Majungoen busier with the jab and more inclined to crowd in while slipping punches with minimal effort, rocking to either side and letting Chaiyawed's jab slide over his shoulder. Body jab by Majungoen. Chaiyawed now trying his jab from the wrong distance, getting antsy. 1-2 into the guard by Majungoen, forcing Chaiyawed back a step. Body flurries by Majungoen.

Round 2

Majungoen is baiting exchanges of fat hooks, which he is getting the better of as his edges in speed and strength come to fore - and Chaiyawed senses this and begins to cede ground. Majungoen all over the midsection of Chaiyawed, landing whatever he can on any exposed spot as the guard remains protectively framed over the head. Majungoen doing a slight dip to his left as he cranes forward, doubling a jab/hook up into the chin and then spearing the body when Chaiyawed instinctively flinches in retreat and raises his arms.

Round 3

Majungoen is really tucking in now with the body combos with menace, pairing long far-side uppercuts with lead hand ones to check any lateral escape for Chaiyawed. Majungoen also plugging hard 1-2s into the navel if Chaiyawed attemps to move away in a straight line. Chaiyawed is cornered late and bursts free with an intense period of hooking, that does buy him a few steps. Majungoen nods his grudging respect.

Round 4

Majungoen is jabbing his way in the front door, and only momentarily given pause by Chaiyawed's desperado hooks and overhands. Chaiyawed having to burn a lot of Kcals on evasive maneuvers and so he is shoring up and banking all his punching energy on pouncing with hail Mary ambushes, single blasts or two-pieces. Majungoen is wary, as Chaiaywed is putting his all into these shots, but they're grazing at best.

Well, this is fairly surprising... Chaiyawed did have a decent last couple of rounds, but not sure I can see quite giving him either, let alone both.

 

Round 5

Chaiyawed dancing around on his toes, walking Majungoen onto hooks. Every time Majungoen opens up with a straight punch, be it a jab or the 1-2, basically any time his gloves roam from home defensively, Chaiyawed is smacking him with big quick hooks off the hip. Majungoen seems to be tiring and turning into a 1-trick pony.

Okay, now THAT was a Chaiyawed round...which means he's likely up on two judges' cards!

 

Round 6

Majungoen is on form again, drilling in with the accurate 1-2, sometimes doubling the jab before loosing the cross. Chaiyawed is still getting him with big up-swiping left hooks against his right earlobe, but Majungoen soldiers on and keeps ratcheting up the pressure, reinvigorated.

Round 7

Majungoen is closing the distance and finding Chaiyawed with a bit of everything when he does. Chaiyawed able to elude him for a while, leading him around the ring, but each time he he finds himself eventually short on real estate, at which point Majungoen charges through his weak counter jabs and hooks and starts battering down at his guard until he can hammer the face with jabs and rights, and/or hooking into any exposed parts of his midsection.

Round 8

Majungoen is throwing jabs, uppercuts, and shoeshines into the now offensively toothless heavy bag that is Chaiyawed. Baggy hooks from Chaiyawed, not enough by half to hold Majungoen at bay. Seven and eight punch sequences from Majungoen now, unanswered. Ref starting to perk an eyebrow wondering is his intervention may be called for soon. Chaiyawed still flinging back just enough, for now - but getting touched almost constantly.

Okay, earlier "Judge C" on the whiteboard they're showing definitely had 38-38, so either that was a tabulation mistake then and they've since corrected it or Judges B & C got their written order swapped.
