The co-main event is at what I presume to be roughly the halfway point (round five happening now). As to who its principals are, search me. I can't read Thai abugida, plus Boxrec really sucks at ever having more than just the main event listed on card pages ahead of time.

Some other CP Freshmart stable member versus...whoever they flew in for him to beat up.

House fave is likely the southpaw in the neon yellow trunks. He's styling on the guy in the generic CPF green & black gear (which they usually make foreigners wear), very disrespectfully sticking the jab or lefty 1-2 and simply leaning back with both hands down by his thights, exploiting his reach and height advantage. Would be surprised if he wasn't officially pitching a shutout thus far.

 

Like the main event, this one is southpaw versus southpaw.

Mr. Fancypants (or rather, Yellowpants), however, is enjoying showing off his switch-hitting ability. Really just toying with his opponent.

 

Guess it was only a six-rounder.

HOLY CRAP, wait. Turns out he actual CPF guy was the one getting his ankles broken and pieced up. THEY ROBBED YELLOWPANTS! Granted only caught the second half of this one, but - how?? Except for what they wore, you'd swear tuning in that Yellowpants was the prospect and CPF guy the bum.

CPF guy looking very sheepish accepting victory, cat that ate the canary as he goes through all the weird Thai rigmarole of having old men pass him giant cardboard advert cards to display for the camera while he continues to drip sweat in the middle of the ring.

 

Tasana Salapat vs. Rowel Disuyo Renz Rosia, 10 rounds @ bantamweight

 

This is for the WBC Asian Boxing Council bantamweight title, 1st defense of Salapat.

Over its two-decade-plus history, this belt has been held by twelve men - eleven Thai and one Filipino.

 

Round 1

Salapat has quite a height advantage. Messy, halting start. Both circling, watching each other, pecking with the odd jab, very cagey - and then suddenly one man or the other will try a big shot, telegraph and miss badly as the other ducks, and they'll clinch. Not a masterclass so far. Salapat getting in some body jabs, nudging the scoreboard in his favor. Rosia boasting his ability to avoid big head shots, but he's letting Salapat rack up points. Swiping right hook across the floating rib by Salapat. Rosia being cute, scooting back a few inches with both feet every time Salapat opens up but leaving his body unprotected with his elbows hiked up high.

Round 2

Salapat is starting to work up long combos off the reach in distraction right jab at the guard, throwing wrecking balls into either side of Rosia's body. Rosia getting absolutely torn up downstairs. Rosia tries jabbing up at the face of Salapat but only getting minced even more when he does. Rosia needs to figure something out here. Salapat popping the right jab at full extension and bursting through Rosia's tightly closed wrists, snappig his neck back. Body shots in multiples from Salapat. They hug at the bell, weird, Rosia grinning like he is having fun and just happy to be there...in a title opportunity, however minor.

Round 3

Salapat is staying in front of Rosia, but standing up tall and just at the proper range so that his jab can score and Rosia's can't. Salapat whipping in body shots for the first half of the round unopposed, but then Rosia surges with some claps on the flanks with either fist diving in low. Rosia nods his respect, adjusts his footing, and resumes jabbing Rosia's head off. Rosia still laughing as he gobbles a big right hook skipping around his left glove. Salapat now doubling the jab and hammering in with a left cross, pinning Rosia's guard to his face. Final shot of the round at the bell is a lead left by Rosia, trapped between the shoulder and neck of Salapat, and no zip on it anyway.

Round 4

Salapat is drilling Rosia with the straight high southpaw 1-2. Nothing for it, Rosia just covers up best he can and takes it. WILD haymakers at the body from Rosia bowing deeply forward, but he's only catching wind. Salapat very comfortably ahead in what has become a disappointing light spar.

Round 5

Rosia warned for a low blow, and laughs it off. Salapat is working that 1-2, rocking the head of Rosia in various directions. Rosia mostly taking evasive measures now, stepping around the ring and looking to avoid both prolonged engagement and the ropes, where things only get worse for him. Wild body flurries by Rosia, with Salapat remaining very much the more accurate man, building everything off that altitudinous jab.

Round 6

Salapat is picking away up top with the jab and mixing in body shots whenever Rosia inevitably raises his elbows to compensate. Salapat is standing almost chest to chest with Rosia now, mere inches separating them. Crowbar uppercuts inside by Salapat. Now right hooks on the waist. Rosia being shellacked. Rosia tries getting cute with a combination thrown from a ducking strafe and Salapat locates him with a head-shifting right hook. Rosia prodding high with an ineffective right jab and getting walked down constantly.

Round 7

Salapat is gradually ramping things up, pushing for a late stoppage. He is all up in Rosia's business, jabbing him in the face and then invading his personal space with guard-splitting uppercuts and body shots. Why did Rosia even bother crossing the ocean for this? Just the paycheck, huh? Rosia dancing around, his shit-eating grin still in place but looking strained and forced now. Salapat absolutely corking him with heavy straight lefts and right hooks on the noggin. Rosia has no answer for anything. Rosia with some very unconvincing lefts reaching up for Salapat's head and coming nowhere close, before retreating under counter fire.
