Southpaw in blue & red has been pretty much in control turning and jabbing their opponent in black & green in the opening 6-rounder, coming down the stretch now.

 

Bantams out, feathers in, another 6-rounder and then main event

 

This one far more of a slugest in contrast with the fencing duel in the opener. The southpaw here wore the black and green B-side colors, and early on was getting beaten up by the switch-hitter in maroon trunks...but the ambidextrous fella got dragged into a brawl late on by his shorter, tatted-up foe.

Bet maroon still gets it, but wouldn't be overly surprised to see a draw here. Wasn't keeping the closest eye.

 

And of course once they announce the decision you know they have to do the whole "businessmen handing the fighters giant corporate advert cards to hold up for the camera" rigamarole, so...probably 10 minutes until main event ring walks? Could be less though; don't quote me on that.

Tasana Salapat vs. Taweechai Juntarasuk, 12 rounds @ bantamweight

 

Spot on! (well, ten minutes from then until intros anyway...thank you collagen commercials and anthems! )

 

Round 1

Salapat is jabbing in aggressively on his fellow southpaw, who answers with high whipping right hooks while sagging his shoulder, bending his neck, and dropping his dome to his left. Juntarasuk is RIPPED with a left cross as Salapat drives forward behind a 1-2, wobbled so badly it appears he's going to fall but he regains his balance - only to get battered with a few more heavy lefts on the cheek by Salapat, followed by some right hooks to cut off his escape. Juntarasuk is hanging in there, but getting outgunned on the inside and too slow to elude Salapat for long. He tries stabbing at the body of the champ but is strapped with more lefts on the head and some body shots from Salapat as well. They swap jabs as Juntarasuk tiptoes counter-clockwise around Salapat at mid-range. Spirited combinations by Juntarasuk, taking advantage of Salapat appearing to shore up energy in the late going. The first three-piece for Juntarasuk hits arm, but the second all gets through.

Tasana "Petch C.P. Freshmart" Salapat is making his third defense here of the WBC Asian Boxing Council bantamweight Silver title versus Taweechai "Petchnamnung Sithsaithong" Juntarasuk. The belt...isn't a prestigious one. His first two opponents for it had a combined 19-9-2 record, and the most notable previous holder is probably Thiranan "Saenganan Sithsaithong" Matsali.

 

Round 2

Juntarasuk is staking a place for himself in front of Salapat, throwing combos mixing right hooks on the body and spearing lefts on the face of the champion and then strafing clear of harm's way. Juntarasuk is doing some good work on the inside as Salapat begins the round a little sluggishly, absorbing double right hooks on the hip - but as he lathers up, Salapat lets the 1-1-2 flow and soon has Juntarasuk's head bouncing around pushing him into the ropes.
