Truly GREAT fighter you hated but NOW appreciate...

    I have been watching alot of Lennox Lewis, and can't believe I didn't appeciate him while he was an active fighter....

    Since 1993, I watched EVERY fight of his live, and judged him by the Oliver McCall and Rahman knockouts, and just labeled him as not having great whiskers:patsch

    Looking back, I witnessed probably a top 5-7 Heavyweight of ALL TIME, and didn't really respect him like I should have.

    Anyone else come to mind:think

    I agree with you on Lewis. I was late to the party with him as well. Didn't really appreciate him until he was retired.

    Agreed....I also think at the time, I was SO adamant that Riddick Bowe would have beaten him, but as time went on, I realized that Bowe KNEW he would've been in for a very long night...

    Cory ****ing Spinks! Criminally underrated by everyone, including myself, during his prime. I have to respect any boxer with no power that gets by solely on skills and ring smarts every time he steps in the ring.

    I never hated Mayweather but have grown to respect him more.

    Also Khan. Ive grown to respect how he is willing to fight the best despite his weaknesses

    Agreed Lewis was my most hated fighter in the 90s as I was a huge Tyson fan (still is). Also Carl Froch I did not hate him or nothing but did not care for him especially since he beat Taylor. But overtime I gained alot of respect for him the way he ducks nobody (guy is fighting a lose lose fight in Groves) you UK Fighters really have a good one in Froch.

    Lennox Lewis. Always appreciated him and was a fan especially after the Holyfield fight but hated him after the Tyson and Klitschko fights. Fully appreciate him now.

    He should have won the fighter of the decade award.

    I still don't understand why they didn't gave it to him.

    Lewis because he sounded like he was trying to buy into Britain, and he sounded and looked a bit gay for the rather anti-gay early 90s.

    SHame, he was outstanding, he'd take both Klits out on the same night.

    Robert Woge

    Didn't like him at all, but now I see the brilliancy in this fighter. First fighter since Mike Tyson, who uses this explosive style and pure attack.
    I don't compare his skills to Iron Mike of course, but Woge is definetly a future Top 10 P4P.
