Ricky showed tremendous energy, workrate, and pop, but he lacked head movement and left himself wide open. Lazcano is a tough fighter, he was dominated worse by Castillo but he survived on his feet. So hatton not KO Lazcano doesn't prove anything. If he fights DLH, FMJ, or possibly Cotto, he will get seriously hurt. I love Ricky, but defense is important.
spot on...Lazcano hasn't been stopped in 10 years so the KO doesn't have an effect on me looking over Hatton's performance.
Ricky will straighten that ref out later ... he was signaling for a five minute break and only got one ...
UliUli - fair enough, haved watching the whole fight I think that's a pretty good summation. Hatton will be disappointed he couldn't quite put together enough shots to put Lazcano away, despite his durability. And he'll want to work on his stamina. The lack of defense at times is a concern but then that's always how Hatton fights...these commentators tonight would have a heart attack if they did the Tsyzu fight now, considering the flush whacks Hatton took there. For Lazcano, he gets the moral victory of hanging tough and continuing to fight. If he plays his cards right he could still be in the mix somewhere. A nice easy fight next should be wise.
You should check out the referee of Hatton/Tszyu then, if you think Cortez is worse than that then you're a fool.
Cmon lets be real.. Lazcano started his career at 130 and fought the majority of it at 135. He wasnt a big puncher at those weights and definetly isnt a big puncher at 140.
Ricky clearly won most of the rounds, but his hands were dragging in the later rounds. A better fighter will be able to time the left hook and knock him down.
fair, but hattons never been a ko artist and more of a pressure fighter - and lazcano can definately take pressure
