No, no Lennox Lewis mentions, please. That isn't even remotely what I'm looking for here. Fighters who TRULY couldn't take a punch well, and who's careers suffered greatly because of it. Fighters who otherwise could of been something exceptional. Power punching Philly fighter Eugene Hart always seemed close to disaster because of his chin. Eight of his nine losses were by stoppage, including one round losses to Watts and Briscoe. Even the light hitting Antuofermo stopped him. If his chin was just a little bit stronger...
Also, Andrew Golota post Bowe. Whether it was the shots he took before that or a mentality issue, I don't know. But two one round knockouts and a second round stoppage... Pretty poor for a superheavy weight.
Ugh, generic answer with little weight behind it. You can argue Haye's chin is every bit as "bad". Hide sole TKO loss to a cruiserweight was a extremely bad cut.
How about Bobby Crabtree? Obviously a stepping stone fighter, but he was among the few with serious power, especially considering he was a decent sized heavyweight that could also fight at cruiser. 51 KO's in 56 fights speaks of solid power... But 30 losses by stoppage in 35 losses speaks equally of a crap chin.
How about Mike Weaver? 12 stoppages in 18 losses. Knocked out in two by DuPlooy after previously beating him. Knocked down in the first by Pinklon Thomas and then stopped by him. KO'ed by a 5-0 Larry Frazier. Not the worst chin, but definitely somewhat shaky.
One of the best picks here is probably one of the hardest hitting cruiserweights of all time, Ezra Sellers. As a heavyweight he floored Alex Stewart multiple times, nearly with the first punch he threw and another time he almost had him down with a friggin' jab. Shame about his weak chin. All of his eight losses are stoppages.
Yeah, whatever was I thinking? That glancing jab from Klitschko that KO'd him flat must've been a doozy.
Tiger Flowers was undoubtedly great but if he had a better chin the world would have trembled. Seemingly nobody could outpoint him, only stop him.
Real shame when a 250 man who's one of the hardest hitting heavyweight in the past 20 years KO's a cruiserweight.
True. I'm not touting Hide's amazing chin. It was shaky. But faulting him at HW because he was knocked out by 240-250 pound men? Eh.
I don't care if it was ****ing George Foreman, if you catch a glancing, half-assed jab in the face, you're not supposed to go down flat and lose all control of your motor functions as if you've just been tagged with a bomb. Hide's chin sucked, anyone who actually watched footage instead of trying to give every single fighter the benefit of the doubt *cough* would realize that.
Bruce Seldon? You probably can't count him as he would never of been something exceptional, but he could of done a bit better if he had a better chin. Audley? He's got talent as he showed in the Olympics, but his chin is grade A china.
