......ruby goldstein became a referee because of his bad chin. known as the "jewell of the ghetto" he was said to be a great boxer and a good puncher..but he just couldn' take a shot

those who saw him said tippy larkin was a marvelous boxer, but had glass in his jaw. he fought beau jack for the vacant lightweigt title and was kayoed in three rounds. lots of kayoed by in his record....would have been a champ, some writers said...but chin was just too weak.

he did but very rarely sparked. pattersons ko over him was a single right cross but more due to pattersons underated right cross and cooper being in a ton of tough fights.

other things include him not being a heavywieght and him being a one armed fighter. making suceptible of throwing left hooks and not seeing the punch coming.

a left hook is a dangerous punch to get hit with but it's also a very counterable punch.
1-2's will flatten you. it's always been the way, straighten up with the left finish with the right.

Apparently after Floyd Patterson Joe Louis is the HW champ who suffered the most knockdowns, true he got up most times but was knocked out twice same as Lennox yet that comparison is never made?
