You seem to be ignoring Maidana easily beating Broner.

 

Maidana was the bigger money fight and held a title the WBA I think after he beat Broner. Also the first fight was on Cinco de Mayo hence it sells even more to fight against a Latino fighter. As the saying goes the stars were aligned. Khan did not bring much to the table particularly in the US.

 

Well most likely khan will surprise Floyd in the first few rounds with this speed. Khan vs Alexander was a sight to behold, you can’t deny the man had speed and skills to make decent boxers look out of their league given the right stylistic nightmare. Then once Floyd adjusts it’ll be a steady breaking down of the guy.

Khan’s chin is underrated too, I mean he got ktfo with Alvarez, so what? He got ko by a perfect Garcia left hook, which he got up from, and Prescott. All
Those guys had something in common, they had 1-shot power. I can’t see Floyd doing that to Khan. He can outpoint him but khan typically gets ktfo by monstrous one shot power.

Hatton IMO is smaller than Khan, can only fight one way going forward, was tired as **** using all that energy and ran into a left hook. Again it’s styles, Hatton would probably stop khan in his prime.

Also fact remains that at the time, Maidana was khans leftovers. How can you say you’re fighting the better guy when he lost to the alternative?

Maybe khan had a higher price tag and maidana made more sense in terms of $ split, I dunno, anything, but it looks like blatant duck to me. But the duck gets a pass because so many people see khan as a joke, but styles makes fights.

Also don’t buy into maidana being a bigger name, the guy was a gatekeeper at that point until he beat broner, no standout prospect. Khan was a media darling and had UK behind him. Floyd-Hatton did 1.4mil PoV bugs in the UK alone, Khan would have also done huge numbers, pretty much his first 10 fights were mainstream TV here and was an Olympic hero.

Floyd's been a cherry picker since 2007. Of course, he should have fought Pacquiao, Khan, Spence, Thurman, and Porter instead of Ortiz, Guerero, Maidana, Berto, McGregor. Although, he did man up and fight the young Canelo, so he wasn't 100% a coward.
