    I cant say much about your example #1...

    but example #2 is a poor one

    oscar would say that to be diplomatic and all of that good stuff but each guy represented 2 different things...

    cotto = money
    margarito = no money...

    its not that confusing ... im surprised people even attempt to bring this up.. cotto was building a huge fan base and the oscar vs cotto would have been the latest chapter in the peurto rico vs mexico rivalry... margarito doesnt really bring much to the table if you want to talk about cultures

    a mexican vs a mexican doesnt create any animosity and a build up for the fight and it also makes for 2 people eating out of the same plate.. instead of their being 2 different platers (mexico & peurto rico) which results in more food (more money)...

    it cant be that confusing

    good point...he was wanting cotto to win....if he fought Tito, bhop at MW, shane twice, JCC twice, quartey, PBF, vargas and mayorga I am fairly sure he is not afraid of AM...he only has so many fights left and an AM fight is really not a neccessity...hopefully he does however fight someone in his weight class and not hatton in his last fight....margo should be fighting PW anyway

    It does create animosity when we are talking about DLH...when he fights another Mexican, they don't ride with him...he is not considered "Mexican enough" which is why he doesn't want to fight a fellow Mexican.

    ...not because it doesn't create any animosity, but because it does. :yep

    u r in the minority with ur opinion on who would win...but again...there was more money to be made elsewhere...why because only AM fans want to see him and floyd fight instead of PBF and oscar...he is in the process of taking a break from the sport and letting his hands get better...his pitter patter has done alot more than AM will ever do in his whole career..AM has ONE nig win in his life....they will fight and floyd will whitewash him

    its still only mexicans watching the fight regardless

    cotto= pr fans
    floyd may= urban fans
    hatton= brit fans
    marg= more mexican fans?

    cmon you cant be that blind to the facts... if you go to a buffet with your girlfriend would you only like to go to a buffet that only has one option of food? or multiple options?

    its common sense

    You are to commited to your view to see clearly.

    DLH vs anybody draws...and against another popular Mexican fighter it draws big...fans of all races would enjoy Margorito beating him and would pay.

    Especially the Mexican fans, who have never fully commited to the GoldenBoy.

    All fighters are afraid. Its how they deal with that fear that makes them successful or not.

    right but

    pr vs mexico = rivalry
    rivalry= hype
    hype = more viewers

    mexico vs mexico= no rivalry
    no rivalry = less hype
    less hype = less money

    the greater majority of mexican fans and boxing fans dont view oscar as a *not real mexican* nobody really cares.... plus the buildup vs cotto would be more intesnse cause cotto beat shane factor in their... its clear as crystal....

    Dude...DLH IS money. Saying him vs. Margarito is no money is ridiculous. Was Sturm money? Was Forbes money? Hell no.

    And suggesting two Mexicans can't sell is even more ridiculous. You don't need to create "fake" animosity to sell a big fight or use nationality to make that animosity.

    :patsch Sorry man...but this is pretty much rubbish. Try telling Barerra and Morales they can't have a successful rivalry. Or Vasquez and Marquez. Or DLH after his fights w/ Chavez. You're trying to rationalize this like a promoter.

    Well, you aren't a promoter. But sarcasm duly noted. :D

    I do think you were pretty off about a DLH fight w/ Margarito having no selling ability OR build up.
