In My Opinion There is probably only a very small group of people who can stake a claim to knowing much about any of the participants in the super 6...

AA, Dirrell, & Ward have pretty much went untested in their entire career
Jermain Taylor may not be the same fighter
Froch is so flawed skill wise its hard to gauge him
and I dont think many of us can claim to know much about kessler either

there is a lot of mystery and surprises in store for the fans

    Nice thread.

Too many unknowns to count. Kessler could be rusty, AA could be far less physically imposing and powerful coming up in weight, Froch could prove limited against a quick handed guy like Dirrell, Dirrell could prove chinny and lacking defensive ability and ring generalship when put in with a top level fighter, Ward could prove lacklustre - with no real outstanding features, Taylor could comeback better than he has been in recent times after a wake up call against Froch, etc etc.

Now imagine if Bute and Andrade were in it and it was an 8 man tourny, even more mysteries and questions, a fan can dream.

The funny thing is, we are finally going to get what we have wanted from boxing for a while, with guys fighting multiple opponents, all top dogs, but in the end, its possible (probable, even) that there will be controversy and upsets, and although some questions will be answered, plenty of new questions will be asked.

Whats the bet that at the end of it all a heap of fans will still be debating who was really the best fighter in the tournament.

Agreed with this thread.Who is to say that Ward and Dirrell are not the best of this lot,or the worst for that matter?Froch is tough but crude.AA is tough against the Euro's and Miranda but so what?Taylor aged but experienced and Kessler gave Calslappy a good go but lost.****ed if I know what an upset means in this tourney.:thumbsup

It's lucky we've got the tournament, because the only way we'll find out is matching them against some of their toughest peers :thumbsup

There are a lot of question marks, but there are a lot of knowns as well. I know I've personally seen at least 5 fights by each of the fighters in the tournament, but what is known and unknown about each of the fighters is part of what makes the whole thing so interesting.

I like Dirrell although untested he has the power to KO any of these guys.

Kessler is good enough to give Calzaghe a very good fight and cause him trouble early.

AA is not untested and seems a lot stronger a 168 based on his fight second with Miranda.

Ward just does not have enogh power to win this thing.

We also know that Taylor is way better than Froch and was beating him easily, before loosing to him due to his stamina issues.

Dirrell could prove to be an outstanding boxer based on his talent already or he could prove to mentally crumble once thrown into the pit with a lion and left to fend for himself.

Ward could prove to be the best fundamentally sound boxer in this tourney or he could turn out to be lacking the power to really put a dent in any of the big bangers.

Kessler could churn out performances to make us whoa to him or he could be a huge disappointment and look slow and limited against faster guys like Dirrell.

Abraham could prove that he was weight drained at 160lbs and be a beast at 168lbs or he could fight someone who is finally on his level and end up on the losing end.

Taylor could be Taylor or he could find some inspiration in this to perform to his maximum potential, avenging the loss to Froch in the process by knocking him out in a rematch

Froch could turn out to be a really tough guy to beat with his limited arsenal or he could turn out to be one of those fighters who are only going to go as far as his chin will take him

    Good Thread...

Another good thread by w.w.m. I would say we know more about jermain taylor than anyone else obviously, more exposure here in his own country. But i think we can all attest to his heart and courage and boxing skills and also to the fact that he gases. The rest a mystery overall on how they'll handle these different types of opposition.

The Super 6 is probably the best thing to happen to boxing in this era. People don't have to know them but will get to know them with this tournament.
