Uhhhhh, with a victory over Mayweather, Canelo will be an INSTANT ppv star. Are you kidding me?

They have been grooming him since he was 19, and he is what now? 23? Is that old? It takes time, and usually way, way longer than this.

These kinds of victories make you a star. Believe me, Mexican American fans will line up to buy his ppvs if he beats Floyd.

If Pacquiao can be catapulted to stardom by Oscar, there is no reason why Canelo wouldn't be catapulted after a victory over Floyd

exactly and they will rematch and canelo will make a lot of money but after that then what? a beheading by the hands of GGG?

    Canelo is pavlik part 2...

but for those of you who think floyd and oscar are cool I'm shocked. They seem to not like each other genuinely. I think ODLH is jealous of floyds success after their bout and floyd wishes he had the promotional power that GBP has. I think the disdain is there.... i could be wrong though.

The key here is that Canelo will remain a star even if he loses to Floyd but Mayweather won't be if he loses to Canelo. Oscar will say things to pump up the fight but he definitely wants Mayweather to win.

Canelo draws as well as Floyd or anyone else these days. If he beats Floyd he'll bury Floyd's best numbers in the future. Take that to the bank.

Why can't Canelo become a huge PPV star?

First off, if he beats Mayweather he automatically has the best win in boxing seen in a very long time, that's going to get anyone who knows anything about boxing talking about him.

His style is casual fan friendly, not as much as a Pacquaio but I think the casuals would enjoy watching him box.

He's a handsome red headed Mexican which makes him a unique and for some reason being good looking can make you sell more PPV's, ask Oscar.

The fact he may have to move up to middleweight would only make fans even more interested in seeing how he does.

With Sergio looking more and more shot the only guy tha at middleweight who I'd favour against a bigger, improved Canelo would be Golovkin and that would be the biggest middleweight fight in years.

If Canelo can keep winning and improving there's no reason he can't become a huge PPV star.

If Canelo wins there is a huge rematch which can be sold, if he managed to win the rematch there is a huge fight against Martinez, if he managed to win that there would be a huge money fight against Chavez Jr (if the differences with Top rank could be worked out). By this time Canelo would be what? only about 25 and will have massive star power.

Let's not forget Mayweather only has 5 fights left.

This. If Canelo can improve his English he could be an absoulute super star. He is actually a lot more exciting than Mayweather as well which has to help.

That is a good point actually, but does anybody else think that a draw is a realistic possibility here.

De La Hoya is the middleman between a line of Mexican boxers and Floyd Mayweather. He wants Floyd to win. If he lost to Canelo than there wouldn't be as many mega fights.

This thread has left the planet. Alvarez would look very good if he beat Floyd and yes he would do well for a short while. He will not become what Floyd is though. He can't win moving up in weight. THere is no way he can beat GGG,Rosado,Quiilin, or Murray. He might could beat Martinez but then what?
Does not matter though all a pipe dream, he will lose so bad on the 14th they won't be able to put him on ppv again.
