Páez is walking through triple and even quadruple hooks in order to grind his shoulder into Benavidez's chest. Páez spending lots of energy on trudging through the storm, pushing into Benavidez, fighting to make body contact in order to dig in his heels and work the body, but getting countered with uppercuts galore.

Benavidez strangely turns southpaw. Mancini rightly chides him for it - needless. He was doing fine orthodox, in control for a while. Benavidez is throwing big sweeping left uppercuts behind the pawing right jab. Benavidez grabs and judo-tosses Páez. Not a knockdown. Páez dusts himself off and marches inside, swiveling to make Benavidez miss his left uppercut. Benavidez starts to dribble the right jab off Páez's hairline and works short combos off it. Páez Jr. turns southpaw himself, momentarily, circling counterclockwise and playing pattycake with Benavidez. Lots of jab-checking and parrying, both posing. Neither willing to work atm.

Páez is heeding the advice from his corner, getting off to a very aggressive start, not letting Benavidez establish himself. Páez is POUNDING the body of Benavidez while muscling him into the ropes, keeping his center of gravity low and chin tucked, shoulder popped outward. Benavidez is tying up, enveloping Páez, then leaning against the ropes and putting up a turtle shell. Páez is turning his fist sideways (thumb facing up skyward) and inserting the jab into the gap between the wrists of Benavidez, looking to open him up like a clam. Benavidez shoves Páez off and lowers a boom right hand across his upper back. Benavidez is backing into the ropes, missing a combo. Páez walks into a left and shoeshines the body. Uppercuts by Benavidez, caught on the arms. Benavidez has a puff under one eye.
