I didn't even mention you directly, how can you construe a dig at the army in general to be a dig against you?? I think you need to dissociate your own identity from the army a little bit.

My experiences in boot camp in my country's army reflect what Killsomething has said. Somebody with even a moderate amount of fitness will do well. Fat people were the one who were having a lot of trouble and there were more than afew.

So now that i'm sober I'll reiterate: PT hard on your own out there because deploying generally has a detrimental effect on fitness, unless you're infantry or something. And steer clear of working too much on boxing on your own because without a coach you'll ingrain some bad habits. Use the time to get into great shape and then hit the gym hard when you get back.

some aspects of fitness dropped during bootcamp for a lot of people depending on where you were because you are only training on what they are having you do and you dont have enough time to train on your own. plus the low amount of sleep wasnt good. my run times went up but situps and pushups dropped just slightly.

A lot of people may not agree, but I go on an Atkins (low-carb diet) and I drop weight very quickly.
