    A lil background on myself.

I'm did boxing when I was 13 ...for a year. I then did MMA for 4 years (age 17). I sorta lost interest in MMA because of all the douchebags that came into the gym..AND because I was paying roughly $100+tax a month I decided to quit. I then graduated from Highschool and then things went downhill from there. I gave up on my healthy lifestyle...and it just ruined me completely. Now, I'm 19 and I graduated from college, I want to get back into shape and back into boxing.

My goal is to compete as an amateur boxer and see where that will lead me. I personally don't think that it is too late for me.

Any tips on how I can get back into shape? My diet sucks..and my motivation is no longer there. BUT, I have since quit smoking and I am trying to quit eating junk food....

any suggestions would be appreciated..good or bad lol

Nah its never too late to try boxing...well...for the most part. But you'll be ok either way. :p

I dont know a whole lot about sports science. But eat right, do cardio, and stick with it is the main thing. Good luck!

Funny thing is I took sports science... in college... (I took a lot of different courses) and yeah....I just dont have the proper work ethic or motivation...basically, I've turned from a kid who used to be all about healthy eating and staying in shape into a skinny fat guy with no energy to do anything. (I honestly think its my diet)

  4. 4 years of MMA and a sports science degree? You know what to do mate!

Just get in the gym and slog it out.

I go to a little gym with a bag room and am dropping weight and getting fit that way. Am 22 and I wouldn't mind having an amateur bout. Build up your confidence and when ya feel comfortable go to a boxing gym, the worst feeling would be what you were able to do a few years back and not now...

As for the diet its more psychological.... I used to love to eat loads of junk food but I have just been looking for alternates and I am feeling alot better for it. Its just how much you want to have a bout or get into shape.

Don't throw yourself in at the deep end. Build yourself up slowly... if you are out of shape, the worst thing to do is train like a man possessed. Eat a clean diet, do lots of stretching and floor exercises. Build up your aerobic capacity, and once you are in decent shape, up the intensity and the volume of your training.
