Zoo would have been brutally beaten and stopped by Pryor there's nothing in Zoo's arsenal that would deter Pryor he's a stylistic hell for Zoo. Pryor would come at Zoo with all angles get inside and beat Zoo up. Zoo can't handle that type of pressure he folded under Phillips he folded under Hatton he would without a doubt in my mind fold under The Hawk's assault.:deal
KT did have a better career than Pryor.....that is not disputed...but as a fighter KT was not better than Aaron.
THey are comparable in the fact that both men faught at 140 and that both men were very good or great fighters.....but that's where the comparisons end. KT had a better career but that doesn't equal that KT was a better fighter than a prime Aaron.
In their primes both were masters of timing and distance, both had great footwork.....yes there are comparisons. Along those lines this fight wouldve been a war for all the obvious reasons stated along with the fact that both were supreme ring generals
:-( Chavez was a clearly shot fighter who'd done nothing of any real note around the time Tszyu did him in. Arguello on the other hand was favored to beat Pryor, was still considered one of the best in the world P4P, and was still obviously an excellent fighter, despite not being in his prime weight. You can easily see this just by viewing his fight with Pryor. He'd just stepped up from LW after relinquishing his title and stopped Kevin Rooney in devastating fashion in his first fight at 140. Not to mention, even after the first Pryor fight he won his rematch with Fernandez, and 3 years after losing to Pryor came back and took out Costello. Very inept comparison. If Pryor had the better footwork, that's a real black mark on Tszyu. Among elite fighters, Pryor actually had some of the worst footwork technically, his all out style just made it work. Neither fighter was the complete package, not by a long shot. Tszyu lacked the ability to fight on the move or off the backfoot, he lacked any real, sustained inside skills, lacked variety in his punches and in his offense in general, and was one-paced. Pryor showed the ability to stick the jab and move, but for the most part was a balls to the wall swarmer who fought at odd angles, which made it more difficult for him to be predicted. More versatile than Pryor, but still lacking in certain areas. I would. I don't see how you absolutely can't envision a Pryor victory after what Vince Phillips was able to do. And there are no excuses for that fight, unless you're simply chalking it up as a fluke, which is ridiculous.
Sure Arguello was favored to beat Pryor just look at Pryors prior competition and its easy to see why. Tszyu schooled Ben Tackie all on the move and off the back foot, so you're wrong there Again Tszyu was a superb timing and distance master. The Phillips victory has nothing to do with the comparison at hand...
He'd just blown out Antonio Cervantes in 3 rounds and was as highly rated in those days due to his ability as he is now, not for resume. You didn't addres my other points, so I assume you realize how off the Chavez/Arguello comparison was. He did, but on the other hand Tackie was slow, completely one-paced, and just flat out unskilled. Yes it does. In Phillips, Tszyu was met with a fighter who could match him punch for punch, take his shots, and hurt him in the process. In no category does Phillips hold an edge over Pryor, and when considering the relentless pace he' give and the angles he fought from, he'd be an even worse matchup for Tszyu than Phillips was, in pretty much every area that troubled him.
Pryor had a great deal of boxing skill and was not just a swarming fighter. I like Tszu but Pryor was the greater Junior Welterweight. Only Duran would have beaten him at 140.
