Forget the carnage Tszyu's mighty fists and laser-like accuracy would inflict on Maidana's chin and dome, Marcos went down like he'd been shot in the side with a elephant rifle from one of Khan's body shots and if Kostya went to work on his ribs he'd stay down like he'd been shot by one. I'm not sure 147 was Maidana's best weight. He got shut out his first fight at 147 by Devon Alexander, Beat Soto Karass (tough fighter, but not a world beater) won a stay busy fight against a novice, beat Lopez, beat Broner (who we are now learning isn't anything that great) and lost two close fights to Mayweather (I get it, Mayweather is good) With that he has a career record at 147 at 4-3. I think when this fight was thought of by the orignal poster it was at the 140 weight class. Where Kosta fought his entire career (30-2 25 KOs) and Maidana, where he only lost twice at that weight, both in close decisions.
Maidana changed trainers to Robert Garcia after the Devon Alexander fight and improved. His peak was pretty much the Broner and Mayweather fights.
Well regardless of where we condsider his peak, we have to assume OP meant the fight would take place at 140, being Tszyu never had a fight at 147.
Think a prime tszyu was a little too skilled for maidana... It be a great fight while it lasted but I think kostya has enough power to keep putting maidana on his ass til he eventually stops him... But Maidanas always dangerous... Few knockdowns a piece maybe.
ooooh tasty fight but I would have to go with Tszyu He was past his best in the Hatton fight (obviously as it was his last lol) and he gave ricky fits and dare I say it I reckon that version of Hatton beats Maidana easier than he did Kostya. (which would have been another cracking fight)
To balance the Phillips talk out tho, Maidana got dropped by Ortiz 3 times. Was probably saved by the bell against Khan, & was almost stopped by a near shot Morales.
