You may be right. I remember many pundits said the second Tszyu v Mitchell fight was a pick-em fight, and then Tszyu destroyed him. In hindsight, Mitchell was way past his prime, as his subsequent fights clearly showed. So it may have been an illusion that Tszyu was still in his prime at that time.
Are we talking a 'clean' Shane Mosley ? This is a very close fight. Mosley is a little more skilled and has a LITTLE bit better chin. And while Shane has good power, Kostya's ia a category higher. Too difficult to pick. A decision could go either way. If it's a stoppage, my money would be on Tszyu. Tszyu completely outclassed Shane's two-time daddy, Forrest.
Too bad amateur boxing and pro boxing have little to do with each other and the triangle theory has been proven time and time again to be worthless.
i know im in the minority but the 2000 version of tszyu,he would be outpointed by PBF and Pacquiao. that is just my opinion. im not impressed as against other posters with the KT's version in the 2000s
Mosley was clean his entire career except one fight. Either way I'm sure Mosley would destroy a man that got beat down by the journyman known as Vince Phillips.
I would have to politely disagree with you on both PBF and Pac. Here's why. I think Pac deserved the nod in both of his fights with JMM, but admittedly they were very close fights. Pac has some trouble with JMM because JMM is an excellent counter puncher and a master of timing his punches. Tszyu is also a master of timing his punches. After several rounds I suspect that Tszyu would be hitting Pac cleanly, and likely harder than he's ever been hit before. I would favor Tszyu by KO over Pac, even though I think Pac is a first ballot HOFer. The Tszyu v PBF matchup is a moot point - PBF could have fought Tszyu had he wanted to, and clearly he had no intention of getting into the ring with Tszyu. Maybe, and this is a huge maybe, PBF could have won a close but boring decision by staying on the outside all night. But if PBF actually engaged Tszyu in some legitimate exchanges, I think Tszyu just has too much power for PBF.
I'm a fan of both fighters. However, your confidence in Shane's 'cleanliness' is overplaced. I personally don't know in how many fights Shane was juiced. And neither do you. And citing one loss against a stellar career ? Louis was stopped by Schmelling. Hopkins lost to a nobody first time out. Lewis lost to Rahman. Anyone can have an off night. Like I said, a pick'em fight.
If Ricky Hatton could beat him a Mosley at 140 would knock him the **** out. Mosley was one of the best ever at 135, if he moved to 140 and not 147 he could quite possibly have been the best ever at that weight. Credit to Mosley for taking fights against BIG 147'ers and 154'ers, fighters who he really shouldnt have been taking on.
A "stellar" career? I think you may want to have a brief perusal of Tszyu's resume before making such a comment. It's Calzaghe-esque in its paper-thin feebleness.
The Tszyu that Hatton fought was years past prime. That fight has zero relevance to this thread. Mosley was one of the best ever at 135?? Have you ever heard of a little factor known as "resume"??
We can quibble about the adjective 'stellar' and while his opposition wasn't the greatest, other than an off night against Phillips, he was up to dealing with all of them. I don't accord the Hatton fight a lot of significance. Kostya was old and rusty, and David Paris was of great help to Ricky. Head to head, prime Kostya was a formidable opponent for anyone. Shane never fought at 140, but he did at 135 and 147 so we can guess. As I already said, this one could have gone either way. Undefeated Zab Judah showed us that. (And a few new dance steps at the same time).
