Have recently got inerestested in Kostya Tszyu and was wondering how many people believe him to be the greatest 140 punder ever
nah, hatton beat him, so he DEFINATELY aint the greatest!! but he was very good tho, i agree with that.
Looking at his resume and plenty of good names there but no spectacular ones. Did he fight evreyone around in a pretty weak division?
Speaking of the light welters- it know has to be at its best for a while with Campbell, Marquez, Pacqiauo, Hatton, Holt, Bradley and exciting contenders like Junior Witter, Zab Judah, Ricardo Torres and Victor Ortiz.
IN a H2H matchup, Tszyu can certainly hang with the best of 140 and i wouldn't be surprised if he were to come out on top but it's his resume that comes short... Something that annoys me about him is the fact that he's keeping the fans waiting... I mean WTF, after losing to hatton, he said he wasn't sure if he wanted to retire or not but he said he will decide soon... Well it's been 4 years since that fight and he still hasn't made up his mind?? Make up your ****in mind and dont keep the fans waiting n ****.. He fought pretty well against Hatton and alot of people at the time felt that he straight out quit... No he's not the greatest at 140..
Yeah I think that Tszyu is one of the greatest fighters in the 140 lb division history. He was undisputed for many years and only lost 2 fights throughout his career. Add that he was ducked by many mainstream fighters today. I wouldn't put many people in the history of that division ahead of him ... good boxer/ puncher, with great all around fundamentals. Maybe one of the most feared boxers over the last 20yrs --
I would put Ricky Hatton up there too ... he's a repeat champion, lineal champion, and undefeated in that weight class so far ... with a win over the p4p champion ... his status among the greats of that weight class will grow.
