Tua is completely shot and should retire...even Valuev was able to destroy Barrett...this was a pathetic showing for Tua...he's like Victor Galindez was in his last two fights.

Going 11 1/2 rounds with Valuev is hardly getting destroyed.

Not as good as belt holders, Byrd and Ruiz.

    Tua had his chances...

Unlike Ruiz and Byrd, Lewis gave him a title shot despite only having one top 10 opponent on his resume at the time. He not only lost but turned in a crappy saftey first performance in an expensive PPV.

He lost to Byrd in an elimenator...had Tua won he would have had his shot at old Holyfield. Which isn't a gurantee as Evander was still beating the likes of Rahman.

He got a gift draw with a bloated 260 lb Rahman who went on to lose to Ruiz for the vacated strap

Your not getting the point. Had Ruiz faced Tua's comp on his way up he wouldnt have made it past David Izon. Tuas comp might not have been ranked per say, but they were all solid fighters coming off of solid amatuer and olympic careers. Ruiz was promoted by Don King, therefore he was put in an easier position to fight for the title, and defend against lessor fighters. Tua would have done just fine had he hooked up with King and fought the bums that Ruiz fought on his way to a shot at Holyfield. Just look for yourself, look at his fights after the embarassing loss to Tua.

Hmmmmm... As I recall in the late 1990s, Tua was parking lotsa' bums on some HBO undercard's, etc.... Aside from Tua facing "Ibeabuchi and Rahman," I thought HBO was catering to team Tua and hyping him up too much....

    Note:

The icing of Ruiz does hold water, despite that Ruiz was green at the time Tua dropped him like a cube..... Ruiz came back after the loss and rebounded better than most fighters do after such a KO.....

Tua's comp is fair to average....... Nothing thrilling, but credible......

I think with the right managment and timing he could have won a championship, but I don't think he was ever going to be an all time great heavyweight.
All things considered he has had a pretty secuessfull career.

Tua is VERY well past it by now. But I don't think he was as great as a lot of people make him out to be. He had a great chin and great punching power which is always dangerous, but still.

-How Ruiz and Tua would do if they swaped careers is highly theorotical. Playing Devil's Adovcate, Tua's bus may very well have stopped against Holyfield, who still capable of squeezing past limited sluggers.

-As Champion, Ruiz didn't face easier comp..Oquendo is Tua's last good win and a fatter Rahman probably deserved a decision against him prior, add top 5 fighters Kirk Johnson and Holyfield as much better names than anybody on Tua's resume.

No its not really. Johnson had beaten noone, nada, zippo. I would bundle old Holyfield and Kirk Johnson up nicely with Maskaev, Oquendo, Ibeabuchi, and Izon with the edge to Tua's comp, plus the fact he destroyed Ruiz. If Ruiz fought those guys he would have never come close to making it to the #1 contender spot for the IBF, and he certainly didnt deserve a shot at the WBA title before Tua got his shot.

What does that have to do with anything? Noone knew who Ibeabuchi was at the time, but at least it was on HBO. HBO wont even televise the dam heavyweight champions of the world these days.

Who thought Tua could beat either Klit today ?
Tua could KO everyone whose chin was reachable for him (maybe except of McCall) , the Klitschkos don't fall into this category.

perhaps tua is simply a nearly man that maybe/should of had a better career.

personally i see tua as a powerful punching plodder with a top chin that is beaten by skilled boxers with movement and angles

tua vs vitali would for me of been a good fight
