    Tua added to Soaring Eagle!
    by Andre Courtemanche
David Tua, after his spectacular first round KO win last weekend, has been added to the Soaring Eagle Casino show to replace Joe Mesi who backed out with a bad back. Tua will join Hasim Rahman and Vernon Paris on September 7 in Mt. Pleasant Michigan, on a card being promoted by Carlos Llinas of CLIP boxing and Bluecap Promotions. "This is the biggest card with huge names to land in Michigan for a long time. I'm excited that Bluecap, CLIP Boxing and Soaring Eagle Casino were able to bring it to Michigan," stated Llinas. Opponents for all three will be announced soon.

    Who's Vernon Paris?

He's a 140 pound prospect from Detroit, MI. He survived a shooting a few years back. From what I have seen, he still has a lot of work, but he is very good defensively and exceptionally fast. Doug Fischer said his fighting style was like a poor-man's Floyd Mayweather. Cocky kid, but has some real potential. In an article on ESB a few months ago, the author said he hadn't seen moves such as the one's this kid employs since a young Pernell Whitaker, so I am defeintely interested.

    Thanks for the link.

A 15-0, 19 year old lightweight...well, so far so good for the chap, I suppose.

    EDIT - survived a shooting?

Vernon "Iceman" Paris is certainly an interesting prospect. I've seen him fight on TV a couple of times and he has looked pretty good. He's young and seems dedicated. If he fought for Kronk he would probably be more well known, but the Detroit media pretty much ignores Detroit area boxers unless they fight for Emanuel Steward.

Rahman was inferior to begin with, and has deteriorated ten times worse. :nod
