At the time this thread was made, Tua hadn't been made to look poor and then awful by Ahunanya and Barrett respectively...and Adamek had not yet even started his HW campaign and shown he could take the power of the big boys. Right now, my pick is no longer "Tua by stoppage"...but in October 2009 it's what made perfect sense.
Tua hasnt beaten anybody capable in a decade yet he is still a h2h monster for guys who are relevant a 2 weight class champ and top contender will beat a Tua who couldnt beat often KO'd Barret who drew in his next bout Adamek would dance circles around him while hitting him with combinations
Adamek on points. Are you guys crazy? Tua couldn't even knock Barrett out. Adamek is a top heavyweight. Now, Tua in his prime may have done the trick, but today's Tua is far from what he once was.
No I just got a keen eye for what i see in the ring. Not to take anything away from Adamek, since he came in prepared and fought a smart fight, but Arreola comes in at 225 to 240 range and he kos Adamek.. Adamek was an excellent LH and Cruiser but Evander Holyfield he is not. Hes a solid contender but IMO very overrated at heavy.. His unimpressive win over the shot Michael Grant confirmed that.
:readthre: This thread is from October 3rd, 2009. Most of those votes in the poll came before Adamek-Golota took place.
Adamek boxed a smart fight but his punches had the same effect on Arreola as a slap. Do you really think Adamek could stand up to the shots Vitali landed on Arreola? Arreola has only been dropped once against Travis Walker.. Walker might not be a world class fighter but he has world class power. Mccline slightly stunned him but he shook it off immediately, Mccline is a big man with good power. Arreola has one of the best chins at Hw.
Rocked multiple times and put on his ass.Overrated chin. Adamek is World class...Arreola is a couple notches below...live with it:thumbsup Those slaps busted him up real good.
Yeah ok Now i know that your just trying to get a reaction. How can he be a couple notches below when the fight was close(closer than Adamek nuthuggers claim).. And we are talking about an out of shape Arreola... IF(a big if) Ronnie shields can get him in shape maybe we will see a rematch... But then again probaly not cause Adamek will be Laid out by one of the Klitchkos by then:dead And either retire or go back to cruiser.
That's what it is Arreola was just fat.A built in excuse for every loss. Getting skinny wont help his skill against the top dogs!woof woof
I think he will improve alot. The only reason he didnt jump all over Adamek when he had him hurt was cause he didnt have that extra spark to jump all over him. He has good hand speed for his size but is slow and sometimes clumsy footwork, and that is mostly due to his conditioning and that played a big role in the Adamek fight.. So your saying losing weight wont help his skill level? So if Mayweather or Pac came into the ring weighing a chubby 170lbs, you dont think it would affect their skill level? Arreola does have skills he was National Golden gloves champ at LH. He throws nice combos. The talent is there cant think of too many fat guys that throw combos like him in the Heavyweight divison. IF Arreola gets into shape he will beat any heavyweight not name Klitschko.
Aint no if's in this world only what is! Simple fact Adamek is more skilled and more clever than Arreola will ever be.
Yes he has some skills. He is fat and lazy bad he can box. Actually I rate him at #7 or #8 in the division. When he loses some fat and improves his punching technique, he can be in top5. Then I can see him beating every boxer in the division despite: Klitschkos, Adamek and Chambers. He shouldnt weighed more than 225-230 pounds. Ronnie is a good trainer. He can teach him a lot, if Arreola really wants it
