Tua is rusty and has gotten slower. His power is still there but Areolla's match maker and promoter is scouting to see whether this kid is the real deal or another Monster Mora. They are gambling on Tua being Rusty, slow and a bit worn, and gambling in hopes of Areolla being more than just hype. They'll get their answer. I think Areolla's camp has been wanting this fight for a while.

Having seen several of Tua's recent fights, I'd not be the least bit surprised to see Tua thoroughly outworked en route to a lopsided losing effort, and possibly even stopped late.

This is not the same Tua of old.

Tua has been shying away from Arreola, not the other way around. I would imagine it would be hard to tell an aggressive Mexican fighter that he's afraid of the aggressive style of another fighter.

Tua has the luxury of fighting two guys, Arrreola and Peter, who he doesn't have to find. So the opponents will be fighting to his strengths. If ever there was a chance for Tua to win a belt, and some cash, this is it.

Rumour in NZ is that Tua has let his weight go up again. Witht the fight in October, instead of previously thought September, he has 3 months to get in tip top shape. He always comes to camp ready to work hard. It's the between fight time that has let him down.

I thought this one might slip away from Tua...if there's any way for him back into the ranks of contendership, a fight with the Tit Man matches up very well. Arreola likes to stand and trade and Tua loves that.

    However...

Tua's gonna have 13 months' worth of ring rust. Despite gradually getting his weight down to 234 lbs as he fought last year, it really wouldn't be a surprise to see him come in way north of 240 this time. And finally, bear in mind it was only at the start of 2007 that he was struggling to a tight UD10 win over Robert Hawkins, currently a 23-11 fighter.

I don't think it would take a major stylistic change for Arreola to make the adjustments that could see him outbox Tua to a point decision.

So this one is probably a pretty even fight as it happens.
And definitely one that I'd love to see, of course.

For all the pros and cons from the perspective of each fighter ... I can say that this is a fight that will interest a lot of people (myself very much included).

It's an interesting fight ... a huge question mark is the shape both guys come into the ring in ... if Tua really trains I say he wrecks Arreola but when was the last time Tua really trained?

So, according to you, Arreola just can't win. Even if he wins, he loses, right?

Negative. Great match up for both of them. Boxing needs fights like this, not **** fights like 90% of Hopkins' defenses as Middleweight "Champion".....Anyone remember Morrade Hakkar?:yep

Arreola's team should be shot for making this fight. This is seriously one of the worst fights that have ever been taken by a young prospect. It's like Arreola's team wanted to make some $, made this match with Tua, and is going to withdraw all there $ from the bank.....and bet it on Tua LOL. That or there seriously gambling.
I mean even if Tua was completely shot, and a shell of a man, and loses....Chris beat a shell of a man who isn't a legend anyways. If he loses (more than likely will) then I doubt he'll bounce back from it.
The only way it would boost Arreola's career is if it was a tough brawl, and by some grace of god he manages to knock Tua out in the midst of it.

    You may be right Primenal

But Goosen knows boxing and knows Tua

So why would he go for this fight unless he felt Arreola could win?
