Fighting Tua is very risky and brings little fame at this point. Tua will only get big fights if he manages to become a mandatory challenger for a belt again.
And you think Haye is the p4p hardest puncher? Why, because he knocked out Barrett, who was knocked out by light - punching Valuev or because he beat up much smaller guys than himself at cruiser? Tua has a chance to knock out Haye because Haye tends to give his advantages away sometimes and gets hit too easily.
Pointless fight for Haye at the moment. Too risky and Haye would get more plaudits by dropping Valuev and then going after WALDO. You may as well stick Tua in against Vitali next and watch him get picked off for twelve uneventful rounds.
This could well happen if Tua works his way up the WBA rankings and David succeeds in taking Valuevs title. I'm a fan of Haye's but I really can't see him taking this one. If he turns it into a fight then Tua will tee off on him and we know that Tuas punching power + Haye's durability = disaster, so we know how that one goes. However if David tries to take the slick route and outbox Tua I think he'll be in for a surprise. If Tuas conditioning is anything like it used to be then Haye will gas and Tua will close the show. Thats if Tua doesnt work his way in earlier using hit feet and headmovement, then landing the bombs. Conversely i dont honestly think Haye has hte power to hurt Tua, plus his work rate is far too low. Look at the pace and intensity of the Ibeabuchi fight, or the duration and punishment in the Lewis fight. tua is about as tough as they come ..
Haye will only fight Tua if he absolutely has to. Just like anybody else with half a brain. Tua doesn't bring big $$$, doesn't bring big reputation. I'd love Tua to win a few fights over some Top 20 fighters and then get in line for another title shot. Would be awesome to see Tua against Vitali, Valuev/Wlad or Haye but it would only happen if he became mandatory.
If David Haye picked David Tua as an opponent it would be disastrous. Haye has quickness and power, and this works for him against opponents who... a) Can be knocked out, and b) Don't have power themselves. That is why his dropping out of the Vitali Klitschko fight was the best thing that could have happened for him. He would have been eliminated much more quickly than Arreola. Tua withstood some of the hardest shots from Lennox Lewis that I have ever seen -- and he did not go down -- including Lewis's patented straight rights that were right on the mark (I've only seen Vitali take the same shots and not go down). In addition, those who remember the Tua/Ike Ibeabuchi fight remember the hard shots the Tua took and gave. Before things went south for Ike, he was destined to take the Heavyweight belts. Here's my perspective: 1) Haye never makes that fight because it's too risky, but if he did.... 2) Haye would hit Tua, but Tua would withstand the shots (cause he has an iron chin); 3) Tua would hit Haye, and Haye would suffer/collapse (because Monte Barrett knocked him down)... Just my thoughts.... BGSchlick
