Quite agree with you, mate. Tua may indeed have solid durability, but Tyson always proved throughout his career he could take many shot. Tua would have been too ponderous against a peak Tyson. Tyson would have had big advantages in hand & foot speed. Prime Tyson is just a much too complete a fighter for a peak Tua. I don't mean this disrespectfully, but Tua is never has/will be on the level of a peak Tyson.
tyson mid tko. imo tua is badly overrated on ESB but not as bad as crazy IKE, the hw savior of ESB :nut
good point. tua never really took damage to the chin like tyson has. and tyson never got koed with one punch. tyson also had more power in his right hand then tua does. but speed is what really seperates them. it would be a good fight but tyson by ko in 9
Tyson wins possibly by late stoppage young Tyson does pretty much everything better than Tua Tua had a rock chin but that doesnt mean a TKO stoppage cant be had. He might not go down but if the ref sees him taking enough punishment, then they will stop the fight
This could be like a Brinks Mat Truck going Head to head with a Bulldozer, the Brinks mat Truck is super tough, has the Gloss, is Faster, more Manoeuvrable, it has the Money riding on it ! but if you pit it head to head against a Bulldozer all those other advantages become invalidated, it comes down to strength, toughness, desire, and that how I suspect Tyson Vs Tua would play out, Tyson the better all Round Fighter has many of those additional Skills invalidated due to the Style Head to Head this fight would Produce, and of the two Tyson at his best was a Man-Child who had enjoyed everything his own way, intimidated opposition aplenty, Big Guys he could Roll Under and Catch on the upswing Ala weak chinned Truth Williams, or Slow Robots Like Bruno, or Frozen Rabbits Like Spinks, No disrespect to Tyson, they had to be done away with, and he did it Brilliantly, but what happens when he is being pushed back, Tyson was not that great when someone was smothering him, what happens when he finds the Target and that Target does not go Anywhere….And what happens when Tua starts throwimg his own blistering heavy artillery, Could Tyson take a sustained body Pounding ? Could he take Tua's Headshots …Could Tyson take his own Medicine….? If Tyson on the way up had fought a Trench Warfare specialist like a Witherspoon or a Mercer. One might be a bit more confident about his ability, no, make that Mental Fortitude to Hung with it and come through some bad Spells to win, As stated, Tyson had enjoyed things so much his own way, against intimidated opposition, that I Think Tua Introduces Tyson to a New Experience, someone compact like himself, who is not intimidated, who can Really Bang with a sizzling Left Hook, and can Maintain the Trench Warfare if Needed. I think perhaps Man-Child Mike might at some stage convince himself, he wasn't Prepared Properly, His Cornermen didn’t do their job's properly, or some other excuse and fall apart, or Foul Out, the Media might call it Bully Syndrome Ala Liston against Clay
this fight is more than big punches and good chins. The reason Tyson beats Tua is not because he over powers him, Tyson was quicker, had better lateral movement and was on a higher level when considering repatoire of punches. Tyson comfortable UD. Good fight.
Prime Tyson takes this fight. Tua couldn't solve a jab, and Prime Tyson used his jab very effectively. Tyson also has Tua beat in every single aspect of the sport, so I really don't see Tua winning. Would have been fun to watch though.
This bully syndrome myth has gotten way out of hand. Tyson was never the bully people made him out to be especially the version from 1986-1992. After his prison sentence he came out a different man and was mistrusting and prone to more dubious methods of approaching situations. Pre-Prison, He loved to fight and he was uber confident in his ability as a fighter that I have a hard time believing that Tua would be able to make any real headway. Tua doesnt even present a stylistic advantage that can be argued in his favor. He is just as short, he is not elusive nor fight from long range he is there right in front of him. The guy with the faster hands, better power, better chin (yes Mike's was more tested and proven) and of course better fundamentals usually prevails. Ruddock, Bruno, Smith all have similar power to Tua. Especially Ruddock Tyson took big punches from all of those guys and didnt falter...
TYSON was better at everything then HOLY also ! but he got beat because of the intangables ! Similar intangables come into play here ! MIKE gets hit hurt and finished somewhere in the middle rounds ! PS MIKES competition was pathetic pre BUSTER and had alot to do with him looking so great ! MIKE lands first but TUA lands last and would be the LAST MAN STANDING ! And thats why MIKES handlers didnt want anything to do with the fight in the 90s ! :deal
