You're really overrating Tua here.. Holmes would take Tua to school. the Douglas that beat Tyson would also school Tua. Spinks also would probably outbox tua. A few more would probably have a good shot at beating Tua. Tua really wasn't that good.

 

Tua would've lost to Holmes, Williams, Douglas, Tubbs, Tucker, Holyfield and ofcourse Lennox Lewis which he did.

Bonecrusher Smith/Tua could go either way. Ruddock/Tua could go either way.

Tua might've beaten Michael Spinks. Probably beats Frank Bruno.

 

Actually... I'd probably favor a prime Ruddock over Tua as well. Tua fanboys are delusional.

prime tua got schooled by PRIME LEWIS, so a past prime tua would last the distance against A PAST PRIME LEWIS.tua had the stamina and the chin that tyson never had, he would last the distance and lewis should be careful

Tua was strong but he wasn't busy enough or quick enough to close the distance against guys with even decent boxing skills.

Can't see any of those guys knocking out David as his chin was more than proven over the years... But I can see a few of those men winning decisions. Tucker, Berbick, a well trained Douglas and of course Holyfield come to mind.

 

You didn't need to be a particularly good boxer to beat Tua, but you had to be prepared to be on your guard the whole fight, because if ever the maxim "one punch is all it takes" applied to anyone, it applied to Tua.

Thing with Tua though was that he was very good against a certain type of opponent, but absolutely atrocious against another. Close with him and you were a dead man. Box him from range, however, and your chances rapidly improved. A lot of Tyson's taller opponents were decent out fighters, pretty good at boxing at range against a shorter opponent. Their problem of course was Tyson himself, who was incredibly good at closing distance, and whose herky jerky head movement made it difficult for them to keep a tab on him. Tua rarely provided that kind of problem. Apart from the odd leaping hook (which he was actually incredibly good at) he was mostly a flat footed fighter, who to some degree relied on your compliance to engage with him on his own turf.

Given his stylistic limitations, I can see many of Tyson's opponents doing well for large stretches of the fight, then catching a sleeper late in the rounds. I can also see others successfully neutralising Tua or tying him up, but ultimately taking too much damage to win a decision. And I can see a few of them totally shutting him down with either superior boxing or exceptional workrate and toughness: Holmes, Douglas, and Lewis in the first bracket, Evander in the second.

I might even pick Lewis to TKO Tua if they fought at Tyson's age. He really had become a walking punchbag at that point.

 

Most people know that. Not that many people think as highly of Tua as you do. Even that version of Holmes had too much skill and experience for David Tua.

Tua could follow him around eat jabs and go the distance. Larry would probably take a few rounds off due to old age..winning maybe an 8-4 decision.
