u claim that he was "outboxed" by them , but all of these names u mentioned ended losing 2 Tua : Izon & Maskaev by stoppage , Wooden by decision . A pure example of Clayan Whitakerian boxology , De lesser fighter always "outboxes" de superior fighter , when he gets stopped then it is due 2 a fluke / physical traits , when he succeeds in his pathetic 2 poor efforts it is never due 2 his own physical advantages , it is due 2 his "skills" :yep and when de judges rule it de rite way , then it is b/c they r bribed . Well , de judges were and r often bribed indeed b it in dis way or another , but det woz not de case in Whitaker's loss 2 Ramirez and his draw with Chavez . Tyson was a cheater BTW , and his use of elbows was crucial 2 his success , I recently discovered that he even used combinations using elbows in sparing . His plat4m shoes might not enhanced his chin , but enhance his h8 and there4 his effective reach dei did . Imagine what would have happened 2 Tyson if de sport and its "fans" were not corrupt , and if Tyson's opponents had de brains & de allowance 2 cheat as well , not just in re2rn , bat rather initi8 cheating like Tyson did : imagine James Smith twisting Tyson's knees in de clinches 2d max with de referee ignoring it , imagine BIG Frank holding him and hitting like he used 2do , imagine all of his opponents actually being trained 2 use elbows , headbutts , armlocks and guiliotine chokes much like Tyson did , but w8 , only 1 is allowed 2do so in n era , D gr8est of that era , d1 groomed 2 gr8ness and backed up by King/Arum/Woren . Now imagine if Tua had de privilege of doing these things and having them ignored and/or carefully warned but never DQd , he would have been considered n almost consensus top 4 HW OAT .
Not very well, he'd knock a few out but plenty would win decisions over him. Guys like Holmes, Tucker, Tubbs and Douglas could box circles around him. Someone like Smith could beat him with his toughness, power and boxing skills. Spinks may outbox him or get outgunned, tricky one Berbick he may well get to and knock out
kid, i could not care less, you are a terrible poster and you are very infantile, partial and emotional, your forum is not the classic.
Bruno, Botha, Golota I see as clear losers. Botha because he was never very good, Golota because he was a head case and Bruno because he stiffened up when hit hard and didn't have great survival skills. Bruno could win, but I think he'd somehow find a way to lose. Ruddock, Smith, Biggs, Berbick, Thomas I see as pick 'em fights. With the exception of Biggs, all were tough, seasoned pro's with sufficient ability and smarts to make life tough for Tua. Biggs' staying power and level of experience (or lack thereof) could be his undoing, but he had a tremendous jab and good all-round skills. It's no given that Tua could beat him. Guys like Douglas (Tokyo Douglas) Holmes, Tucker, Tubbs, Lewis, Holyfield and yes, Spinks, would be too crafty, too skilled and too good for Tua to beat. All could soundly outbox him.
Tua would beat most of the lesser competition Tyson faced, but I don't see Tua beating Spinks, Ruddock and Bruno. I think Tua would probably get a lat stoppage against an old Larry Holmes and a the Douglas fight would be competitive.
I think Tua beats Bruno. He would nail Bruno late and Bruno would turn to stone. The other more mobile guys would outbox Tua easily.
please.. these guys are dreaming.. tua would have absolutely destroyed bruno, spinks, ruddock and berbick...
Not just Bruno , Spinks , Berbick , Ruddock but also Tubbs . Nate had a better chin than Tony and Tua still KOd him . Who did Ruddock beat ? a dead obese corpse that was 1ce James Smith that was who . D only 1 whom had any sort of success vs Tua was Lewis , and his win over Tua is over8ed in such n exagger8ed manner I could never understand .
i agree tubbs could not run from tua during all the fight, plus he was not in his peak when he faced tyson, maybe he would catch him later than tyson did, but still tua would stop him.
Tua was a good fighter, but like Tyson, he had a short prime. Imo, Tua's best years were late 93 - 96. He had some decent fights up through 99, but he was done after that. Post 99 Tua wasn't himself anymore. The early Tua had a style that was eerily similar to Tyson's, but he lacked Tyson's overall ability; and in similar fashion to Tyson his style demanded youth to be effective. I think a prime Tua would've did well against anyone Tyson fought, but at the end of the day, a prime Tyson was better than Tua ever was.
Tua is not the type guy to ever string together a bunch of title defenses. There is no way a guy like Tua defends the title 5x straight. And he'd lose by "insert any name here." The total of three defenses would be a lot. In the 80's, the guy's with the most defenses were Tyson and Holmes. You know who was next? Weaver with 2. Tua would fit right in with the revolving door of those other guys looking good for 1 or 2 fights and then lose the title. If he was champion, how many fights would it have taken for the Tuaman to show up overweight or not properly conditioned? How long before he fought a stupid fight? So he would have lost early on during that Tyson title reign and would not have unified the belts.
True. Consistency and conditioning were never his strong points. There were more than enough decent fighters for at least one of them to have taken a decision against a disinterested or lackadaisical Tua, though he would no doubt have had some spectacular KOs as well.
