Given who Aerreola fought to get his shot, I'd say Tua is really just 1 fight away from a shot (besides, Wlad has mandatories out the ass at the moment). The problem is making that fight. Other than Chambers & Povetkin, top-15 guys don't fight. Tua is a good name for either VK or WK and I'm sure HBO would love the fight. But he needs a good next fight.
I'd rather see Tua v. Vitali. I think that would be an entertaining fight. I think Wlad v. Tua would be boring no matter who won.
I think that last nights Tua, with the same determination, motivation and drive, would fare better agaisnt todays Wlad, than the old tua did against Lewis back in the day. Tua just didn't show up that night, was overweight and underprepared, and he still lasted the distance and even took a couple of rounds. I'm by no means predicting a Tua victory, but I DO think he'd make the final bell, and I do think Wlads more limited arsenal/safety first mentality would allow Tua more into the fight. Tua with that kind of power vs Wlads chin (if you buy into it not being bad, just average, then Tua can still smash a hole through it ..) will end with a very large Ukranian flat on his back. Neither Klitschko carries the power to take Tua out imo, especially Vitali, I don't rate his power as high as many others seem to. Sure the height and range is a biggy, but who says he has to reach the chin? for example how would Wlad react if Tua landed a completely flush hook to his ribcage? I dont see that one ending well ..
If Meehan has challenged Tua, I would leap at that. Meehan has a style very friendly to Tua, and a high boxing rank. Tua should do whatever he can to get that fight signed.
Won't happen yet. Wlad is going to fight Chambers in March, then likely fight Povetkin, and if Haye should win, which he should, a fight with the Hayemaker-too much money in that fight for that not to happen. Cameron is a nice win, and having Tua back in the picture is all better for the division, but he needs to fight guys with better resistance. I wouldn't mind seeing him fight the likes of Peter or even Arreola.
I want him to get a few more fihts before he would fight Wlad. I'd favor Wlad againt him but due to the power you can never count him out.
Wlad would box and run, winning a shoutout UD12 and the forum will go nuts how Wlad was "running" and "not fighting like a man" ... So why should he even fight Tua?
I think the jab keep Tua in check but this could be a fight that Tua is KO'd...David always has a punchers chance vs Vlad if he wants to take chances but Lennox let David feel his right hand and Dave signed the silent agreement to lay back and eat jabs...Those rocket right hands would get in and the jab would be in Davids face....Tua can be KO'd...I remember the 1 punch 1st rd KO loss to Savon....Vlad may be content to jab but if his punches are landing with frequency..he may uncork a few of his power shots...if he commits to a punch, they can be brutal...but he never has to get out of his comfort zone to win and I dont blame him if he does not....I would like to see how Tua handles Meehan and then fight one of the Klitschko's
He is offensive fighter. But he still has got good defence - especially head movements. Tua doesnt have only one punch, he throws some good combinations.
Nobody has sparked Wlad with one punch, unlike Lewis and he easily beat Tua. Wlad is a master of controling range these days, it would take either a big awkward fighter or a speed demon like Tyson to get to him. Tua is like the post -prison Tyson, he will look like an unstoppable machine against low - level opponents, but run into a terrible reality check against the best.
Tua would have problems reaching Wlads or Vitali's chin. He will have to "jump" to even have a chance of landing the left hook like he tried against Lewis. He landed a couple but with the difference in height the punches seemed to have lost a lot of their steam. The Klitz would outbox Tua. It would be entertaining because there would always be the chance of a huge hand landing but in the end its a UD12 and people would be disappointed IMO.
