Tua's defense is extremely underrated, The Ibeabuchi match was a perfect example

The perception amongst vast majority of boxing fans is that Tua has subpar technique, has an inefficient defense and that he's slow but none of these are true. He was an Olympic medalist at the age of 19, he had good technique and possessed plenty of hand speed for a heavyweight. If you pay close attention to his fights, especially this fight with Ibeabuchi, his defense is actually very efficient as he rarely got tagged cleanly with those bombs that Ibeabuchi was throwing in the hundreds, the vast majority of them were effectively slipped or caught by Tua's gloves but Ibeabuchi on the other hand was taking MANY clean effective shots to the dome from Tua, way more than he was landing on Tua. Tua's defensive style reminds me of Old Foreman but Tua's was way more efficient as Old Foremen regularly and consistently took unnecessary punishment from opponents.
