So he disposes of Friday next week. What then? You would think given the formality of this fight that they have two or three guys lined up. But the only one talking is Bloodworth when asked his opinion in press conferences. He is talking about going the way of being the number one contender for the WBO and enforcing a mandatory and possibly getting a shot at the end of the year. But then thats just him speculating because sure as anything he hasn't been told whats next from team Tua. He'll end up another Meehan (or David Tua for that mater) and having another couple of years off. I can't take another six months of him turning down top contenders to fight another bum.
I think Tua is rated # 2...after Wlad punches holes in Provitken then David should get a fight...Wlad always fights the best in line for his belt :yep
Tua has 2 more fights under Maori TV (NZ) contract left. Basically that means the defining fights wont happen till after that which is being lined up by his promoter/manager Cedric Kushner.
Keep talking like Friday is a mere formality.... he read this forum .. and laughed.. Tua is not the same guy he was 12 years ago.. He beat a man that Friday himself broke mentally a year previous......... Tua has had no competition to compare his old form to.. Fridays last two wins were over younger unbeaten opponents.. An Unbeaten Cameron and an unbeaten Alonzo Butler.. Friday dropped both men and stopped Shane... Also dropped Ibragimov twice....... drew with Guinn , and did the distance with former champion Liakhovich.. and OLympic Champion Povetkin over short rounds, in his own backyard..... Tua is as much a vehicle to Friday getting recognised , as Friday is supposedly a step towards a title shot for David, Friday is very motivated by such a massive opportunity......... God Bless......
No doubt he is a tough customer. I think he'll give Tua more of a fight than most of the ranked fighters. What I'm interested in is whats lined up next for Tua. I'm going to call bull **** on the Maori TV deal anyway. It has become a convenient excuse as to why things haven't happened. It is probably not worth the paper it is printed on. In the real world these sorts of contracts get ignored all the time. I guess the original intent was providing all New Zealanders access to Tua fights without ppv which is admirable. It's just that contracts like that probably won't stand up in court if it is infringing on Tua earning a living or having a negative impact on furture earnings. Which to me is a bigger corruption than not honouring the contract. No person is reasonably obliged to cut their nose off to spite their face financially when you are talking about earning a living in your chosen field.
Either way, it'll be a while (assuming he wins, which wont be easy) before Tua has a crack at Wlad. Povetkin is likely next. But we cant forget the other mouth out there still wanting a piece of one of the klits and thats Haye. IMO Haye has a better chance against Wlad than Vit, and I think he will chase Wlad for that reason. On the other hand Vit would definitely not want to face Tua and sees him as too dangerous. So Tua may have to look for fights with for example the winner of the Adamek Areola fight, Solis, or undefeated Boytsov (this would be an awesome matchup).
Yeah I don't think Haye will want to fight a Klitshcko just yet and won't risk his future earnings fighting TUa. So I think Haye will go for the winner of Arreola / Adamek or maybe even winner chagaev/ meehan when ever that is meant to happen. Solis has already turned down a fight with Vitali (well his promoter did anyway) so maybe he would be a good fight for Tua. Solis has packed on some beef so Tua wouldn't have to chase him down. Then again Tua's camp don't seem to interested in anyone other than waiting for a mandatory.
While I would rather see Wlad take on Haye to try to unify the belts I get the feeling that it will be big brother to fight him. Wlad will/ should fight provitkin next leaving the winner of this for the number 1 slot. I see Tua getting off early against Friday and being dynamic, powerful and landing a number of telling blows to stop the fight. All credit to Friday he's as tough as nails and nobody thinks he cant perform well or even win.....however it's Tua time....so dont spoil our hype
Tua fights two fights at or below Friday's level, then a mandatory, then a belt holder. The Maori TV contract is real and binding, and Tua would love to get out of it. But he can't.
Those are all interesting fights to be made however Adamek(who IMO gets by Arreola) is trained by Bloodworth as well and Bloodworth's said that he wouldn't put them in the ring with each other.Solis/Tua would be one of the better heavyweight fights in recent times if it were to get done.
Tua has dropped several levels since he was knocking out Ruiz and warring with Ibeabuchi... He even struggled to a close one with Cisse Salif a while ago..... BTW.. Ike was Fridays very close friend when they moved to Vegas.. Friday calls Ike another son of the soil.. (NIGERIAN SOIL) Ike lost his way while on the cusp of a title shot...... Friday wont , not this time..
Ike has some personal demons.. I don't know where they stem from.. I had a strange experience when we went to fight in Mannheim against Povetkin.. We arrived at the hotel and most of the undercard fighters were all arriving too.. Oleg Platov and Timo Hoffman were there already and a guy from Congo (Zaire) who hardly spoke english... Toto Mbenga his name was... He had checked into his room with his trainer.. He had strangely taken a luggage truck from the airport to transport his luggage ..... his trainer had no control over him and Mbenga wasn't happy from the moment he arrived, he was edgy and a bit aggressive, he was a small heavyweight 200lbs.. but had already wrapped some cling film wrap around his bags and luggage and was making a scene....... his trainer said he had done this to keep spirits away from his belongings.. He did not like his hotel room and said it had witches or evil spirits in there.. He took his luggage out into the street and was sat by the side of the road.. Sauerland promotions said they would try to get a new room for him but by this time he was walking almost 200 yards down a long street towards the town leaving his trainer to sort the **** out.. he pleaded with Friday who was Nigerian to try to get him to see sense but when we approached him he looked a bit wild eyed and aggressive , Friday asked him to see reason but the weird Mbenga was reading from his bible and saying we were all evil and he would cast us away soon.. we had no choice but to leave him.. another heavyweight tried to talk to him a nice guy from Ghana.. who had boxed shannon Briggs i think his name was Abraham Okine, but he was by this time waving his arms around and wrapping more cellophane wrap around his bags.. pushing them further away from the hotel, he said he would sleep outside the hotel away from the spirits.. 3 hours later i walked back towards the Hotel (Intercity Hotel) in speyer actually, and he was stood on the edge of a busy highway screaming exerpts from his bible at oncoming traffic and abusing bypassers verbally.. i did not want him to see me so i walked across the street and took a few photos as proof on a digi camera, almost an hour later he was stood in the road and traffic had to swerve around him and it was getting dangerous, i went across the road and tried to ask him to come back onto the pavement .. he looked right through me like i wasn't even there and the Hotel by this time had called for police help... i sat inside the hotel cafe and watched the police try to calm him down.. half an hour later i heard a massive commotion and there was this nutcase throwing bombs at the police and physically punching the three policemen who were being smashed by this dangerous *******s arrays of powerful punches, he was a menace and disturbed and they had to take him down and call for a black police riot ven to help them take him to jail.. he never boxed the next day and was exported i heard after being heavily fined and locked up for 2 further days.... It just seemed to escalate after this guy got paranoid about some paranormal hotel room experience he had.. but trust me this man was heavily troubled before he even got to the hotel.. The Povetkin fight just topped off this very curious trip to Germany for us.. Ike just reminded me of that one.. Toto Mbenga still boxed later that year and again in 2008 i think, I dunno how he even got a licence... This was just a mad man as far as i was concerned.. Quoting from a bible while stood in a busy highway is not what a rational man does........
Drugs are bad enough but crossing them with a half wit is always a recipe for disaster and IKE didn't" lose his way "he raped a Hoochie apparently that why his arse is locked up over in the States .
