    Tubbs, 50, headlines March 1!
Former WBA Heavyweight Champion Tony Tubbs (47-10, 25 KOs) will take on Paul Rocky Phillips (21-14, 19 KOs) on March 1 at Shimmers in Ft. Wright, Kentucky. Tubbs, who turned 50 last Friday, is unbeaten in five fights since 2003. One of those being an upset win over the then-unbeaten Brian Minto (now 29-2, 18 KOs). The 43-year-old Phillips has been KO'd in eleven of his last twelve dating back to 1999. Also on the card is promising heavyweight 'Minnesota Ice' Joey Abell (18-1, 17 KOs) against Dione Craig (4-11-1). Other bouts to be announced shortly. The event will be presented by former heavyweight fighter Larry Phelps and his company White Lightning Promotions. Tickets for the intimate 500-seat event are $100. Call 606-791-9139.

Phillips was the guy Riddick Bowe was going to fight last year, but it fell through. Best wishes to Tubbs.

Well, Ron Lyle had his last fight at the age of 54, and after returning from a much longer layoff than Tubbs, therefore stranger things have happened.

That is ridiculous, Tony Tubbs was not in shape for the Tyson fight at that was ages ago. Then, he would give Riddick Bowe a good test but that had to do with his technical ability and experience more than anything else. Tubbs should be desperate to make some money with Phillips but he's not going anywhere...

    This is great news!

The heavyweight division does not have enough old, out of shape, and need to retire fighters.

This is exactly the shot in the arm the division has needed.
