Watch again without the announcer commentary. Its as though they they thought the end was imminent and they were trying to call it before it happened.

I think (though I only watched it once, as it happened) that Hall-Gastelum was a draw, but I have no problem with Gastelum getting the nod. He fought harder.

Third round could easily have been a 10-10 round. Gastelum was the aggressor, got a takedown (or 2?) and top control, but did little with it. Hall landed some clean hard strikes in the first minute, and came up with a couple of really good reversals on the ground. There was some very good scrambling from him in that round. You can make a case that either man won the round, and neither of them clearly took it. :deal

And yeah, Uriah definitely choked. But he still looks like physically he's got all the tools. Maybe having uncle Chael in his corner would have helped him.

But I think the pressure of the event just got to him. The hype, and the crowd - all his other TUF fights were in the gym. We gotta remember that this was his big-show debut, and he is essentially the main event. And not even his fight - just him. So he didn't handle the pressure particularly well. And remember he was fighting a guy who not only he lived and trained with for months, not only a guy he likes on a personal level, but a guy who is a horrific stylistic matchup for him. Mini-Cain is just about the worst style for Uriah to fight.

So yeah, disappointing performance, but I don't think we can write him off just yet. I didn't see anything that would indicate that Uriah can't compete at the high levels. He's clearly got all the talent, just needs to work on his mental game.

Just a question for anyone familiar with Uriah's corner. Did I catch a glimpse of Thai in his corner?

I can't believe how good that Meisha Tate/Cat Zingano fight was. The women really are stepping it up in the UFC. They're coming in and fighting hard.

I agree bags of fighting spirit on display. They showed a real competitive desire to engage & fight, good stuff.

It was a great fight both Girls gave everything in that fight and really deserved that FOTN bonus. I'll be honest I was really surprised Tate lost I fully expected her to finish Zingano.

Even watching Uriah for the first minute, you could tell he was not himself. He wasn't being the agressor, he was backing off and not throwing with conviction. I mean, what happened to that speed, that nasty striking? This was literally an average fighter he showed up as. It was fukin weird. But yea, I think he choked. Where did those super fast leg kicks go? Those awesome jabs? It was as if he didn't come to win and was just sparring.
