Now that season ten of TUF has come and is almost gone - let's take a moment to reflect back on some of the highlights or finer moments of the show. Number one - it was a great idea to focus on the heavyweights. This season gave us a chance to see that there are heavyweights out there - but they all need serious work to become real contenders. If this group stays focused and trains heavily to improve - the entire UFC heavyweight division should be revitalized over the coming years. They've already added tons of names that will be famliar faces to the viewers over the next year" Roy Nelson, Wes Sims, Kimbo Slice, Matt Mittrione, and Marcus The Darkness Jones. I enjoyed every confrontation between Rashad and Rampage. However - it almost always seemed like Evans was starting with Rampage and their school yard taunts were always poor reflections on both. Generally, Rashad conducted himself with calm class - except for the times when he allowed himself to taunt Rampage. I was surprised to see that Rampage was still such a sorry coach. Forget his training methods - but the way he left his fighters alone in the ring after shocking losses - was a poor reflection on Jackson's character. Conversely, I was surprised to see Rashad conduct himself with class for the most part. The way he was supportive of the fighters and even consoled Rampage's team after losses made me respect him more. Before the season began - I picked Roy Nelson to win. After watching him win his actual fights - I wish someone would beat him. It's one thing to win in an ugly fight - but to brag about winning an ugly fight afterwards just makes him come across as a dumb ass. It's a shame because he's the most technically gifted of this batch of heavyweights. I was very shocked to see that the entire season was constructed around Kimbo and that it never played out - mainly due to Kimbo himself. The producers of the show could have edited every episode around any one of the fighters "hoping to return" as they did with Kimbo - but they focused on Kimbo and in the end - he showed that he doesn't have the heart to be a mixed martial artist. Dana White practically offered to give Kimbo Matt Mittrione's spot in the quarter-finals - only to have Kimbo turn him down by stating that he wasn't at full operating capacity. Kimbo better hope he KO'S Houston Alexander in impressive fashion or his days in the UFC will be numbered. Maybe they can bring Tank back for a rematch? That said - I did grow to like Kimbo as a person throughout the series. Wes Sims is hilarious. They should have focused on him more. I loved the look on his face when Zakman finally snapped. I know Wes was thinking - "damnit - I should have keep that pool going!" I thought it was interesting to see how Matt Mittrione was basically the secret bad guy behind the entire season. He was always plotting and conspiring against everyone else. He showed himself to be a real shitheel in the end - but I don't blame him. It is a competition after all. Every man for himself. He should make the perfect heel for whomever they want to match him with in the UFC. Out of the entire group - the one I thought has the most potential to break out and be a superstar is Marcus the Darkness Jones. He has the intimidating look that will draw casual viewers in - but his peaceful attitude and friendly demeanor will continue to win him long time fans. His strength and power coupled with his desire to learn will make him more and more dangerous by the day - provided he stays with fighting. He still has holes in his game big enough to drive a mack truck through - but his natural gifts can make up for a lot of that in the meantime. I was extremely shocked to see that Marcus wanted to quit after being KO'd in the last fight. He walked to the ring - the defacto winner of the season - and left it never wanting to fight again. Fascinating stuff. What were your thoughts? Share your favorite moments.
My only thought on this you need to grow up, fast. Why don't you care about fighters' rights, or better competition in the sport. The only thing you seem to care about is the well-being of the fertittas. I'm guessing you're too old to need a dad. So you need to grow up. screw zuffa, kill zuffa
It was a decent season overall but the guys are limited. Yes the HW division could use some new blood, but don't see these guys as the answer. Nelson looks like a solid fighter, but he's probably at his peak right now and given his size, he probably won't threaten the top of the ufc food chain. Marcus has got the size and athletecism to be a force but he's already 36 years old. Schaub has got some potential, but that's about it. doubt mitrione will do much and kimbo's never gonna be elite especially now that he's got arthritis. one thing that was great was that cocky loudmouth McSweeney got bashed in
good fights. brendan did well. roy fought the same fight for the second time. it's effective. mcsweeney is a ****. glad he got sparked. total wanker. i don't like bullies.
You can log off now while the grown folks are talking. Maybe you can come back when you learn some manners. :deal
OMG!!! Marcus Jones' "peaceful attitude and friendly demeanor"atschWTF!!! Yeah sure: When he was not screaming at and threating other fighters for accidents that occurred in other bouts that did not involve Jones. Coupled with going ape **** over some silly joke another competitor played on him. Yeah great guy! Just be prepared for the slightest triviality to send him into hyper space. Life must be a laugh a minute living with him, I do not envy his wife and kids. Quite frankly: I feel like I lost around 5-8 IQ points watching that orchestrated sideshow.
Boring show for the most part. McSweeney is a **** of the highest order. I liked Matt the entire season and was hoping he would bash that ****. Kimbo is what any decent person knew he was. Just a regular guy making a check. He really won me over as a person but not as a fighter.
McSweeney went for the other guys balls in the bedroom. :verysad Total and utter ****ish move from McSweeney.
i was glad big baby got sparked too after that scene with matt. mcsweeny was a total douche that got what was coming to him. i know kimbo did what he thought was best for his career but he looked like a bit of a puss after talking alll that **** and then backing out.
Well - he was peaceful except for those times when he flipped out and threatened to kill people that is.
