I Really believe so. He has an amazing record. Not to mention he was only dropped ONCE! His chin is really underrated as well.

WHat are your thoughts? Janitor? Mcgrain?

I'm think so. He is a fighter you generally find at the bottom end of all time p4p top 25's although a spot in the ten could possibly be justified. I had him at #18 the last time I did a list.

I have him behind Langford and Charles at LHW though.

You know who you really want to hear from? Sonny's Jab. He knows his Fighting Marine. May actually overate him at HW just a tad.

    Very nearly snap.

Pick for textbook fighter in Classic, snap.

Maybe we should work out a rota where one of us is posting at all times, but neither at the same time? It wold mean you brushing up on Charley Burley though...

Terrific! I'll learn about both greats in one book. Less than $11 on Amazon.com

Burley has been recently moving up in my rankings.

I noticed you picked him over Robinson in a fantasy matchup a while back. Quite surprising. No doubt he looks very good on film though, despite the film of him being extremely limited.

He was definately one of the greatest ever. I have him right behind Charles and Moore at LHW and top 20 p4p ever.

I re-assessed Robinson, very good, but beatable. He was so potent due to the generally weak ass era he fought in(a pioneer if you will).

Burley looks pretty good, good style against Ray.

I'm not impressed by Henry Armstrong though, at all.

The guys Robinson fought were not weak at all. Limited? Some, such as Fullmer and Basilio, but great at what they did. Very strong, rough, and tough as nails, similar to bigger, stronger, tougher versions of Hatton(whom I know you hate, but still). A guy like Gavilan, whom Robinson beat twice, not weak at all, in fact quite brilliant. I don't see how you could say he was weak by any standards. The win over Gavilan is enough to show me that Robinson would've been great in any era, regardless of what you think of his other opposition.

I think you need to watch more of Armstrong to get him, I wasn't impressed with his style at first either, very awkward, hittable, etc. But the more you watch him the more and more impressive he gets, as he simply would not stop coming and would not stop punching. He basically got stronger and more energetic as the fight went on, to the point that he was no longer plodding around throwing a few punches to any spot he could, but rather attacking full on, without budging. It takes a while to get into the groove of some of his fights.
