Gene Tunney versus Bob Foster at light heavyweight?

Great fight. I like Tunney, he was very smart and would likely expose Foster's stylistic limitations

Geez, I like Tunney, but at 175 pounds I really don't know if he could take a prime Bob Foster.50/50 for me

I'll take a prime Kova. Not that middle aged version that beat Ward.

Come on man why do you have to post stuff like this haha it would be so hard to pick between these two if i had to pick like all or nothing no other choice i'd pick Foster I believe that jab would cause issue and allow that hook to find home at some point in the bout!

    Tunney should take this comfortably.

Damn this is a good match up.

I'd have to side with Tunney, due to his showings against Dempsey, even if he was older.

    Very hard fight to predict!

On film, Tunney looks very "modern", with ahead-of-his-time skills. Also very good chin… so I'm kind of tempted to go with Tunney on points. That is, If he can stay clear of that left hook!

    Tunney UD.

Foster was a big puncher with great height and reach for the 175-pound division. Top jab. Elite level power. I find Foster's competition underwhelming though, and sometimes he didn't look so good if he didn't land his best early.

Tunney had some pop, but I think his feet, smarts, and defense would be enough to win on points. P4P, Tunney had one of the best chins, mitigating Foster's puncher's chance.

I'll go with Tunney by decision ,but he'd have to have his radar switched on fully. One lapse and Foster gets that left hook in !This couldbe Genes most dangerous fight .

Probably one of the toughest matches for Foster. I like Gene by decision. He'll turn him. all night. Turn him and peck away and just win rounds. A moving target with those hands up. No trading or exchanges. A highly disciplined fight for sure. He would not stand in front of Foster which is a horrible place to be. And with Foster, there is a lot of danger at 11 and 1 o'clock was well.

One of the most incredible things in the sport is how in the world Foster could ever comeback from that brutal Frazier ko. And then he takes a long sustained beating from Muhammad Ali===in a non title bout. Good luck signing other guys for that caliber of fight. Those losses ruin fighters and as a minimum, reduce their career a ton. Not so much to Foster as the lh champ and his reign.

Who else was ever able to bounce back like that? What a great fighter. Take those kinds of risks & going in as the big underdog?
